The International Ferenc Fricsay Conducting Competition, is an international music competition for conductors of all ages, held in Szeged, Hungary.

History

The competition was established to honor the legendary Hungarian conductor Ferenc Fricsay[1] (1914–1963), known for his refined style and significant influence on 20th-century orchestral performance. It was founded to discover, promote, and support the careers of emerging talented conductors worldwide.

The competition offers conducting engagements with renowned European orchestras, such as the Baden-Baden Philharmonic, Bern Symphony Orchestra / Bern Opera, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Hungarian National Symphony Orchestra Szeged, Kaunas City Symphony Orchestra, Leipzig Symphony Orchestra, Nuremberg Symphony Orchestra, Prague Royal Philharmonic, and Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra.

Winning this competition is seen as an important milestone for launching international conducting careers.
