Emily Hopkins is an American electroacoustic harpist, composer, and YouTuber.
Career
[edit]Hopkins began playing harp in 2001 under the instruction of Jeanne Fintz-Goldstein. She performed at Carnegie Hall in 2009 as part of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York.[1] In 2019, she was chosen to perform in New York subway stations as part of the Music Under New York program.[2]
Hopkins attended CUNY Hunter College and graduated with degrees in Music Performance and Media Studies.
Artistry
[edit]Hopkins is known for playing the harp using effects pedals and other electroacoustic techniques, as well as synthesizers. Hopkins has stated that using pedal effects with her harp has helped her gain confidence, express her artistry, and show other harpists non-traditional paths to musicianship with their instrument.[3]
