Darrin Davis (born April 13, 2003) known professionally as DDPresents is an American recording artist, mixing engineer, and record producer. He is the founder of Rising Uncovered Studios and is recognized for his cross-genre collaborations with artists such as Trinidad Cardona, Smokepurpp, and NO1-NOAH. With over 700 credits listed on Muso.ai, DD has become a prominent figure in the independent and underground music scenes, combining engineering precision with creative versatility.[1] [2]
Early life and education
[edit]Born in Portland, Oregon and raised in Camas, Washington, Darrin Davis began his musical journey in middle school, joining choir and performing solos. In eighth grade, he started producing music using Audacity (audio editor), learning basic audio principles such as EQ and compression. DD attended Camas High School, where he began using FL Studio and collaborating with local artists throughout the Pacific Northwest. He later studied at Clark College in Vancouver, Washington, to receive and earn his General AA degree. Afterwards enrolling in the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS) in Gilbert, Arizona. There, he received formal training in audio production, post-production, sound design, and live sound. [3]
YouTube and independent beginnings
[edit]Around the same time he began producing music, DD launched a YouTube channel that eventually amassed over 25,000 subscribers and six million views. The channel focused on music-related content and provided DD with experience in video editing, digital promotion, and audience engagement. [4] [5]
Career milestones: Rise of Rising Uncovered Studios
[edit]In 2022, DD engineered and was featured on the song "MIA," collaborating with $teven Cannon, Nessly, Crape, and Paycheck. The song was described as a "star-studded hype record" by Rap Fiesta. [6]
That same year, he founded Rising Uncovered Studios, a platform focused on independent artist development, audio engineering, and digital promotion. Through Rising Uncovered, DD has provided production and mixing services to emerging and national artists.
Collaborations and notable works
[edit]DD has worked with artists such as NO1-NOAH, Trinidad Cardona, Smokepurpp, 645AR and Kamiyada+. His tracks "Stay," "Dark Knight," "SPACESHIP," and "Smile" gained popularity for their genre-blending production and wide-ranging features. In 2025, he released "MVP," a collaborative album featuring several artists across multiple genres. [7] [8]
In 2024, DD appeared in a long-form interview on Jimmy’s JamBox (Episode 415), where he discussed his musical background, creative process, and plans for future releases. He spoke about the personal importance of music in his life and his decision to pursue formal training in Arizona to refine his skills.[9]
His work has been featured in publications like Just Indie Art, Hip Hop Since 1978, and Tunepical, citing his innovative sound and contributions to the underground music scene. [10] [11] [12]
Technical expertise and gear
[edit]DD is proficient in Pro Tools, FL Studio, and Audacity (audio editor). He frequently uses hardware such as the Warm Audio WA-47 JR microphone, Universal Audio Volt 4 interface, and WA Headroom headphones. He has been trained in console routing, patching, and home/bar PA setups. His mixing workflow integrates Antares Auto-Tune, Melodyne, and Fab-Filter-based processing.
DD learned this valuable knowledge while attending the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (CRAS) in Gilbert, Arizona, receiving formal training in music production, post-production, sound design, and live audio engineering. At CRAS, he also gained experience in broadcasting, game audio, and studio operations using professional tools such as Pro Tools. During his time at CRAS, DD interned at Demŭn Studios in Phoenix, Arizona, assisting in recording sessions and creating behind-the-scenes video content. [13]
Studio internships and professional training
[edit]While studying at CRAS, DD interned at Demŭn Studios in Phoenix, Arizona, where he assisted in recording sessions and created promotional video content. In 2025, he began interning at Apex Arts Studios in North Hollywood, gaining hands-on experience in a commercial studio setting known for producing audio and video projects. His training also includes broadcasting, game audio, and live event production using industry-standard tools.
Real estate career
[edit]In addition to his work in the music industry, DD has worked as a licensed real estate agent with eXp Realty LLC since 2022. Based in the Los Angeles area, he has applied his communication and marketing skills to assist clients in buying and selling homes, drawing on his background in digital media and brand presentation. His experience in managing multiple projects and working with diverse clients has helped him develop a strong presence in the competitive Southern California real estate market. [14] [15] [16] [17]
