Coro Strandberg (born 1960) is a Canadian sustainability strategist and president of Vancouver-based Strandberg Consulting.[1] She advises businesses and industry associations on integrating sustainability and social purpose into their strategies, governance, and operations.[2]
Biography

[edit]Coro Strandberg was raised in Burnaby, British Columbia. She is one of four siblings born to a Danish immigrant who moved to Canada in the 1950s.[3] She holds Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) degrees from the University of British Columbia.[4]
Career
[edit]In the late 1980s, Strandberg was elected as a director of Vancity Credit Union, becoming its youngest board member at the time.[5] She was the founding Chair of the Vancity Community Foundation in 1989 and later served as Chair of the Board until 2000.[6]
From 1990 to 1993, Strandberg was the first Social Planner for the City of Surrey, British Columbia, focusing on community development initiatives. She then worked for the Government of British Columbia as Social Policy Director and Green Economy Policy Advisor from 1995 to 2000, where she developed sustainable development and green economy strategies.[7]
In 2004, Strandberg founded Strandberg Consulting, a firm that advises organizations on sustainability strategies and governance.[8] Her consulting work focuses on embedding environmental, social, and governance (ESG) and social purpose considerations into organizational decision-making and operations.[9]
Strandberg served on the board of the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, a provincial crown corporation, from 2018-2025.[10] She was also a member of the Government of British Columbia’s Emerging Economy Taskforce, established in 2018 to help shape and inform the future of the province’s economy.[11]
Strandberg co-founded and chairs the Canadian Purpose Economy Project (CPEP), an initiative aimed at promoting social purpose in business.[12] Social purpose, as defined by the CPEP, refers to a company’s commitment to creating positive societal impact as a core part of its business strategy, beyond just generating profit.[13]
Recognition
[edit]Strandberg was recognized as Canada’s top Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) consultant by Canada’s Clean50 in 2015.[14] In 2024, she received the Joyce Borden-Reed Distinguished Contribution Award from the Governance Professionals of Canada, where she also serves as a faculty member.[15]
