Professor Ako Edward Oben[1] born on the 18 of May 1951 in Ossing village Eyumojock subdivision in the manyu Division Cameroon.

Ako Edward Oben's publications are extensive in African American Literature, African Literature, Commonwealth Literature, and Critical Theory.[2]

Ako Edward Oben's academic background includes a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and he has supervised numerous PhD and Master's students. His expertise lies in English, American, and Commonwealth/Postcolonial literatures[3] .He served with numerous responsibilities like from 1982-1992, he served as the technical advicer to the secretariat General presidency of the Republic of Cameroon.He equally served as the vice rector in charge of research and cooperation,vice rector in charge of Academic Affairs, Dean of student services, Chair Department of English and Associates professor. In 2005 professor Ako became full time Professor of the American and Commonwealth literature.between 2008-2017 he served as the rector of the University of Maroua and currently as the pro-chancellor of the University of Buea[4],pro Ako being fluent in 5 languages like English, French, Spanish,Kenyany and Keaka, has contributed immensely in achieving his great works.

In 2019 prof Ako became the chief of Ossing village .[5]
