Chrome Angelz RC (Chrome Angelz Riding Club, often abbreviated CARC) is an international women's motorcycle riding club based in Galloway Township, New Jersey. It was founded in 2011 by teacher and motorcyclist Annamarie "Anna Marie" Sesta.[1] The group identifies as a neutral, women-only riding club and operates independently from territory-based motorcycle clubs.[2][3]

Its parent nonprofit, Chrome Angelz RC Inc, is registered in New Jersey as a 501(c)(3) organization.[4]

History

[edit]

Sesta created Chrome Angelz RC in 2011 while looking for other women to ride with in southern New Jersey.[1] The first Jersey Shore chapter later expanded to include chapters in other states, including Michigan.[1]

In 2018, the Journal Tribune (via the Portland Press Herald) reported that the club had grown to 140 chapters on four continents, with about 120 members attending its national convention in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.[2] The next year, the Duluth News Tribune stated that Chrome Angelz RC had "more than 150 chapters worldwide" during its 2019 convention in Duluth, Minnesota.[3]

NBC 26 covered the Oshkosh-area Sapphires chapter in 2019 during a benefit ride for a disabled U.S. Army veteran, describing Chrome Angelz RC as a nonprofit with 176 chapters.[5] That same year, the Wisconsin Agriculturist reported that the group helped a dairy family rebuild after a tornado.[6]

A 2021 article by Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorneys described Chrome Angelz RC as an international organization with “hundreds of chapters worldwide,” citing fundraising for Dress for Success.[7] In the same year, Cronkite News (Arizona PBS) profiled Navy veteran Sue McConnell of the Desert Roses chapter, highlighting members’ volunteer work with the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System.[8]

Organization and membership

[edit]

Chrome Angelz RC is a women-only riding club that does not claim territory or colors typical of traditional motorcycle clubs.[3][5][9] The club emphasizes neutrality and community participation.[2][3][7] Full membership is open to women who ride their own motorcycles. Supporters and men may take part in public activities but are not eligible for membership.[7] Chrome Angelz RC Inc has been recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofit since 2017.[4]

Activities

[edit]

Rides and conventions

[edit]

Local chapters organize rides, social gatherings, and an annual convention that rotates among host cities. In 2018, about 120 members attended the event in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.[2] The 2019 convention in Duluth, Minnesota, drew participants from several states and Canada.[3]

Charity and community work

[edit]

Many chapters organize charitable events. NBC 26 reported on a benefit ride for a disabled veteran,[5] the Wisconsin Agriculturist described tornado relief efforts,[6] and WBBM Newsradio covered a chapter’s partnership with the Cups Bra Drive.[9] Russ Brown Attorneys cited fundraising for Dress for Success,[7] and Cronkite News featured volunteer activities with the VA system in Arizona.[8] The SandPaper also noted that Sesta remains active in the annual Motorcycle Toy Run along the Jersey Shore.[1]

Recognition

[edit]

Coverage in regional and national media has described Chrome Angelz RC as one of several organizations supporting women riders in motorcycling culture.[2][3] SupportBikers.com lists Chrome Angelz RC among international riding groups for women motorcyclists.[10]
