[1] [2] [3]

Celi Cumar (also spelled Celi Omar) is a Somali sub-clan within the Cumar Galmaax branch of the Wacbudhan division of the Abgaal clan, which itself belongs to the larger Hawiye clan family.[4][5]

Somali genealogical sources list several lineages under Celi Cumar, including Cosoble Celi, Xasan Gaab Celi, Shige Celi, Cali Celi, and Ibrahim Celi.[4][5] These lineages are part of the wider social and historical structure of the Abgaal, one of the principal clans within the Hawiye confederation, traditionally based in central and southern Somalia.[6]

Community and diaspora activities connected to the Celi Cumar lineage have been reported by Somali-language media.[7][8]
