C.J. Parson (born September 22, 1983) is an American actor, writer, and producer known for his versatile character portrayals across film, television, and short-form. He is best known for his roles in drama series such as Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again, FOX's Prodigal Son, Power Book III: Raising Kanan.
Parson initially broke out in television, for his portrayal Police Officer #1 in Powerbook III: Raising Kanan, his portrayal as Andrei Gwarzo on The Rookie, as several SWAT leader roles for NBC's The Blacklist and CBS's FBI. He also acted in several independent films, and music videos.
Early life and education
[edit]Born, Corey-Jamaine Parson, and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. His father Clifton Allen (deceased) was U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and a Hudson County law enforcement officer. His mother Adrian Parson worked local jobs in Jersey City, New Jersey, where she still resides. Parson attended Snyder High School of Performing Arts, where he studied music, television production and recording and film. Parson briefly attended Saint Peter's College (Saint Peter's University), which he left after several semesters to join the police force.
Professional Career

[edit]In 2004, Parson was recruited by the Jersey City Police Department. After completing intensive training at the John H. Stamler Police Academy, he began his police service as a police officer in the South District police precinct. Parson became the youngest statewide police instructor, homicide detective, and police sergeant. He also served as a detective commander, SWAT supervisor and second special assistant to the Chief of Police. In late 2017, Parson retired from policing and relocated to Los Angeles, California, to pursue acting.
Acting
[edit]Parson began his acting career as a professional background performer in several prominent network television shows, quickly advancing to co-star and guest-star roles in both television and film projects upon relocating to Los Angeles, California. Parson spent three additional years after moving to Los Angeles, and studied dramatic acting under notable actors/ instructors Karina Arroyave and Diane Castle, while simultaneously studying screenwriting for film and television.
Awards and Recognition
[edit]Parson received numerous commendations for bravery and exceptional service, notably the prestigious Combat Cross Medal and the Police Officer of the Year Award in 2009—one of law enforcement’s highest honors. He was also highlighted in New Jersey News (NJ.COM) for career in law enforcement and Hollywood.
Personal Life
[edit]Parson is married, and has three children C.J. Jr., Natalia and Caiden, who died at birth (2020).
