CG5 (real name, Charles Duncan "Charlie" Green) is an American electropop singer and YouTuber who started his career back in 2014 by posting songs based upon popular memes and videogames of the time.[1] His YouTube channel has over 8.6 million subscribers and his videos accumulated over 3.2 billion views,[2] as of July 2025.
About
[edit]Charles Duncan "Charlie" Green is originally from Arizona.[3] He was born on May 10th, 1999.[4]
The name of his channel gives an insight of his role in his family, being chosen as an abbreviation of "Charlie Green" (CG) and the "5" symbolizing the fact that he was the "5th generation of Charlie Green in his family".[3]
Charles married a woman named Emma Fox, who inspired various works of his.
He is afflicted by Relationship Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, which also inspired one of his most popular non-fandom related pieces, his song "OCD".[5]
Career
[edit]He initially used his father's computer to edit videos and songs on his initial YouTube channel, called "Charlie Green".[3][6]
According to an interview he did with Indy100 (tied to The Independent), what inspired him towards his career path was a computer program that his father had shown him back when he was 5 years old, named "Hip Hop 4ej". Other musical and inspirational influences were "Phil Collins, Tears for Fears, ELO, Earth Wind Fire, Fleetwood Mac Journey, and Duran Duran".[7]
The YouTube channel "CG5" opened up in 2014,[8]
Since then he made various musical pieces which relate to a significant amount of different topics and franchises, such as memes, TV shows and videogames franchises, most notably the Five Night at Freddy's, Bendy and the Ink Machine, Among Us, Poppy Playtime and Cuphead's franchise.[7][9] These pieces contributed to his initial success and later growth.[7]
His track called "Absolutely Anything," with over 16 million video views as of July 2025, was hand-picked by Warner Music Group's imprint label Spinnin' Records for redistribution, becoming the music producer's very first commercial breakthrough.[2]
He persued a relationship with a woman named Emma Fox, who he then married. His wife inspired numerous of those songs that were not tied to pop culture references, such as his song "OCD" which explores his "Relationship Obsessive Compulsive Disorder" and how it played a role in their relationship.[5]
CG5 did multiple tours in the United States,[10][11] United Kingdom,[7][11] Ireland,[11] Netherlands and Australia.[11][12]
In January 2025, he released the first part of his three analog horror short films series he called "PROJECT U MOVE", which he started to brainstorm back in late 2024.[13][14]
