History

[edit]

Bolt.Earth was founded in 2017, as a company that focused primarily on offering smart mobility solutions, especially centered around enhancing electric two-wheeler experience. Founders Jyotiranjan Harichandan and Mohit Yadav initially launched Bolt.Earth as Revolt Motors (later renamed REVOS).

The company's initial years focused on manufacturing IoT-enabled connected mobility solutions for electric two-wheelers. It offered features and services such as smart navigation, anti-theft systems, and remote diagnostics. This early phase witnessed the rise of its innovative proprietary EV operating system. Bolt.Earth, recognizing the increasing domestic and international demand for EV infrastructure, soon expanded operations, including deployment of a network of electric vehicle charging stations.

In 2019, the EV ecosystem company launched its first public charging solutions. Targeting the unique needs of the Indian EV market, Bolt.Earth focused on two- and three-wheelers primarily.

Rebranded to its current name from REVOS by 2022, Bolt.Earth's focus diversified. The EV solutions company now reflected a broader aim to power the entire electric vehicle ecosystem, pushing beyond both charging infrastructure and software platforms. This rebranding was a major step towards building an all-encompassing EV charging points network. It offered several energy management services that were now easily accessible through the Bolt.Earth app.

In 2023, the company crossed a major milestone. It developed and deployed over 30,000 [10] electric vehicle charging points pan-India [11]. With this, Bolt.Earth had become one of the largest yet affordable [12] EV charging solutions networks domestically. The company also entered into several strategic partnerships with EV manufacturers and various other mobility service providers, allowing Bolt.Earth technology integrations into a wider range of vehicles. It includes collaborations with Tork Motors, Taizhou Chinv Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd., and Bafang Electric in October 2023 and Altigreen in November of the same year.

In 2024, Bolt.Earth raised $20 million [13] in a funding round led by Prime Ventures Capital and Union Square Ventures. The same year, it continued expanding and enhanced its services, which now offered Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 EV charging solutions, scaling its operations further in both urban and semi-urban locations.

Operations

[edit]

As of 2025, Bolt.Earth has developed more than 37,000 EV charging points covering over 1700+ Indian cities, serving 226,000+ active users. The company's comprehensive EV network supports four-, three-, and two-wheeler electric vehicles and offers both standard and fast-charging options. It also offers a peer-to-peer, distributed charging model that allows businesses and individuals to host charging stations, which further enhances convenience and accessibility for EV users.

Bolt.Earth features a dedicated Charging Management System (CMS) platform to optimize and manage its charging networks, displaying charging trends and allowing real-time energy usage monitoring.[14]

The EV company further aims to pursue emerging EV solutions markets and manufacturing opportunities in Asia, Europe, Latin America, and South America. Bolt.Earth plans to leverage its Indian market experience and technical know-how and extend software solutions and EV infrastructure to these global locations. Thereby, assisting in addressing the growing global demand for sustainable and eco-friendly transportation.

Products

Joint Ventures

[edit]

ASDC-Bolt.India

[edit]

The ASDC (Automotive Skills Development Council)-Bolt.Earth partnership aimed to enhance India's automotive workforce with the knowledge and technical know-how about EV solutions and infrastructure by providing training programs.[15]

Tork Motors-Bolt.Earth

[edit]

Bolt.Earth partnered with Tork Motors in October 2023 to expand EV charging infrastructure options to Tork's customer base [16]. It enabled Bolt.Earth to offer its extensive network of more than 30,000 EV charging points spread across 1100+ cities to⁣⁣ Kratos-R owners, thereby promoting EV adoptions and addressing range anxiety among users.

Chinv-Bolt.Earth

[edit]

Again, in October 2023, the EV solutions and manufacturing company further strengthened its long-standing ties with Taizhou Chinvv Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd. [17] This partnership launched the Bolt.Earth Blaze, which is a fast-charging EV platform and hence reduces charging periods significantly, enhancing the convenience and accessibility of electric mobility.

Bafang Electric-Bolt.Earth

[edit]

The collaboration between Bolt.Earth and Bafang Electric, an Indonesia-based e-mobility and complete systems manufacturer, focused primarily on providing all-encompassing solutions for electric two-wheeler OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) [18]. It integrated Bolt.Earth's proprietary intelligent operating systems with Bafang's precision-engineered components and EV motors.

Forest Capital-Bolt.Earth

[edit]

Bolt.Earth collaborated with Forest Capital, a green infrastructure financier, in October 2023. The partnership aimed at enhancing India's domestic EV ecosystem by manufacturing and deploying 500 DC fast chargers and 15,000 two- and three-wheeler EVs pan-India.[19]

Altigreen-Bolt.Earth

[edit]

Bolt.Earth teamed up with Altigreen, a domestic three-wheeler EV manufacturer, in November 2023 [20]. The partnerships focused on tackling and alleviating range anxiety among three-wheeler EV users by co-deploying affordable EV charging points. It aimed at installing 100 EV charging points within the initial months, totaling 5000+ over the course of three years.
