Blinq is an Australian technology company best known for its digital business card product, which enables users to create, customize, and share professional profiles. Founded in 2017 and headquartered in Melbourne, Blinq has grown rapidly, reaching over 3 million users globally across 500,000 companies, including over 90% of the Fortune 500.[1] The company has secured more than US$30 million in venture funding to date,[2][3] and has offices in Melbourne, Sydney, San Francisco, and New York.[2]

Blinq was originally created in 2017 by Jarrod Webb as a coding project when QR code scanning became native on the iPhone camera with iOS 11.[4] Webb continued developing the product, gradually attracting early users, until 2021, when he left Uber to focus full time on Blinq, accelerated by a surge in demand for contactless networking tools during the COVID‑19 pandemic.[5]

By late 2021 and into 2022, the platform gained traction among professionals and companies, leading to a US$5 million seed round led by Blackbird Ventures with participation from Square Peg Capital—marking their first joint seed-stage investment since Canva.[6]

In May 2025, Blinq secured a US$25 million Series A round led by Touring Capital, with follow-on investment from Blackbird Ventures, Square Peg Capital, and new investor HubSpot Ventures. Reports indicated this was the largest Series A round in Australia in the prior 12 months, valuing the company at approximately AU$200 million.[7]

Blinq’s platform allows users to create multiple profile variants (e.g. work, personal, social) that remain editable and shareable across contexts. Its features include NFC card support, QR sharing, CRM integrations (Salesforce, HubSpot, Zapier), contact management, email signature embedding, and app/widget sharing options.[8]

Competition

Independent comparisons and platform data suggest that by 2025, Blinq had raised more funding and built a larger user base than major competitors in the digital business card space, including Popl and HiHello.[9]

  • On the App and Play Stores, Blinq consistently ranks higher than Popl and HiHello in key markets including the US, UK, and Australia. It holds a 4.9-star average across over 150,000 reviews, with users frequently highlighting its ease of use, modern design, and reliability.[10]
  • On G2, Blinq had thousands more user reviews and a slightly higher average rating than HiHello (Blinq 4.8 vs HiHello 4.6 out of 5), a proxy for broader adoption and higher satisfaction.[9]

Analysts and media highlighted Blinq’s strong design-led UX, ease of use, and viral sharing model as key factors in its rapid adoption, especially among professionals and enterprises.[11][7]
