Blade Auto Center

[edit]

Blade Auto Center (commonly styled as Blade) is a Philippine-based retail chain specializing in automotive accessories, parts and vehicle mobility products. Founded in 2004, it has grown into one of the country’s largest car-accessory retailers, expanding into e-commerce and service-bay offerings.

History

[edit]
Blade Auto Center founded in 2004, when its first store was opened in the Market! Market! mall at Bonifacio Global City (Taguig).

By 2013 the brand had opened nearly 30 stores Metro Manila and Luzon.

In June 2013, the company opened its “Super Auto Center" a two-storey branch on Timog Avenue, Quezon City, described as a “one-stop shop” for accessories, parts and services.

By 2023, Blade Auto Center had reached its 50th store with the opening of a flagship "one-stop" outleton Mindanao Avenue in Novaliches, Quezon City, coinciding with its nineteenth year.

The Mindanao Avenue Branch is the first major standalone (non-mall) store for the brand, featuring service bays and expanded mobility product offerings.

Operations and business model

[edit]

Blade Auto Center operates via a nationwide network of retail outlets, located primarily in major Philippine malls and standalone stores. According to the company, it has “over 50 locations nationwide”.

The retailer stocks an array of automotive accessories(audio/visual systems, dashcams, car-care products, wheel accessories, etc.), as well as offering installation services in selected branches.

In its more recent strategy, Blade has also expanded into servicing vehicle maintenance (oil changes, diagnostics, tint installation) and into alternative mobility products such as electric kick scooters, motorcycles and bicycles. This is particularly embodied in its Mindanao Avenue location.

Additionally, Blade has developed an online retail presence via its website blade.ph, and via major e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and Lazada.

Branding and positioning

[edit]

Founder and CEO Robertson Sy Tan has described the company’s early strategy as filling a market gap for car-accessories retail in the Philippines, leveraging his background in consumer-product distribution to launch a specialty retail chain.

The brand emphasises value and accessibility — keeping costs down and passing savings to customers.

In its branding, Blade has also pursued non-traditional marketing, publishing digital films via its own entertainment arm aimed at building customer engagement.

Noteworthy milestones

[edit]

2013: Opening of Timog Avenue Super Auto Center branch, featuring services and lounge for customers.

2018: Launch of Blade-branded car-care product line including waxes and microfiber cloths.

2023: Opening of 50th store on Mindanao Avenue, Quezon City, pivoting towards the “one-stop mobility center” model.

2024: 20th anniversary of the company, accompanied by special events and partnerships (e.g., Philips for LED automotive lighting).

Market presence and positioning

[edit]

Blade Auto Center is regarded as one of the largest retail chains in its segment of automotive accessories in the Philippines, with a broad nationwide presence.

It competes in the aftermarket auto retail sector, addressing both car-enthusiast and general consumer markets. Its one-stop strategy (accessories + service) differentiates it from traditional accessory shops focused solely on parts.

Controversies and criticisms

[edit]

As of the latest available media coverage, no major controversies or legal issues involving Blade Auto Center have been widely reported in the public domain.
