Badiger Devendra

Badiger Devendra (also known as Devendra Badiger) is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer working in kannada cinema. He is best known for his debut feature film Rudri(2020)[1], which won multiple international awards and was screened at the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFES). He has since directed IN (2023)[2] and Vanya (2025)[3]

Early life and education

Badiger Devendra was born in Benakall village, Koppal district, North Karnataka, to Manappa S. Badiger and Earanna M. Badiger. He grew up in Coorg and Mysore.

He completed his schooling at Mallamma and Marimallappa Education Institutions in Mysore. Later, he enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts degree at Maharaja's Degree College, Mysore, but discontinued in the second year.

He subsequently obtained a Diploma in IATA UFTAA in Canada.

Career before filmmaking

In 2006, Devendra established Atlas Hoppers Private limited, a travel consulting company in Bangalore. The company has been operational for more than 19 years.

Feature films

Rudri (2020)[1]

Badiger Devendra made his feature film debut as director and producer with Rudri[2]. The film starred pavana gowda,[4] who described her role as "the whole soul of Rudri.[1]"[5]

The film won three awards at the Tagore international Film Festival and was officially screened at the Bengaluru International Film festival (BIFFES). The Hindu praised the effort of the team, The Times of india described Devendra as a filmmaker who gives "voices for the oppressed."

Themes and style

Devendra's films frequently focus on social justice, marginalized voices, and human resilience. The Times of India[6] has described him as a filmmaker who stands as a "voice for the oppressed."
