Founded in 2009, the firm has provided branding, website development, and design services to clients across British Columbia and Canada. The company has operated under multiple names throughout its history, including Array Studios and Array Web & Creative, before rebranding as simply Array in 2023 and changing its website to meetarray.com.
History
[edit]Array was founded in 2009 in Nanaimo as Array Studios. Over time, the company expanded its services beyond graphic design to include web development, branding strategy, and digital marketing. In the late 2010s, it operated under the name Array Web & Creative, before adopting the simplified brand name Array in 2023.
The company has remained locally owned and operated, with offices in downtown Nanaimo and a team of designers, developers, and marketing professionals. In 2014, Douglas Magazine listed Array Studios among its creative leaders to watch on Vancouver Island.[1]
In 2018, BCBusiness recognized Array Studios as a key player in Nanaimo's emerging tech scene.[2]
Notable Work
[edit]In 2012, the Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation selected Array Studios to develop the city’s official visitor guide.[3]
In 2021, Array was selected to lead the rebranding of Tourism Coquitlam, creating the logo and tagline "Fun is in Our Nature."[4]
The agency also developed the website for the Nanaimo Prosperity Corporation, an economic development initiative supported by the City of Nanaimo.[5]
Awards and Recognition
[edit]In 2023, Array won a Gold MUSE Creative Award for its redesign of the DMCL website.[6]
In 2024, it received:
- Gold in Brand Identity – Brand Refresh for Vancouver Island North Tourism[7]
- Silver in Corporate Identity – Logos for Pacific Modular[8]
- Silver in Marketing & Promotional – Brochure for Shift, a solar energy company[9]
That same year, Array received Gold in Environmental Design and Silver in Government Website Design at the Summit Creative Awards.[10]
It also won Platinum in the CommunityVotes Nanaimo Web Design category.[11]
The Vancouver Island North Tourism rebrand also earned a Platinum Hermes Creative Award.[12]
In 2025, Array received a Silver MUSE Creative Award in the Strategic Program – Branding Refresh category for its work with the Nanaimo Foundation.[13]
Array was listed as a finalist in the 2025 Vancouver Island Business Excellence Awards.[14]
Name and Branding
[edit]The company was initially incorporated as Array Studios Inc..[15] It rebranded in the late 2010s as Array Web & Creative, and in 2023 became simply Array.
