Antahpragnya is a prominent rural technical festival organized by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) located in Basar, Nirmal District, Telangana, India. Established in 2014, the festival aims to provide a platform for technological innovation and to promote technical education among rural youth. Over the years, it has grown to become one of India's largest rural technical festivals, showcasing a wide array of technical events, workshops, and exhibitions.

History and Editions

  • 2014: The inaugural edition of Antahpragnya was held, marking the beginning of a tradition to celebrate technological advancements and encourage innovation among students.
  • 2015: Building on the success of the first festival, the second edition featured more diverse events and saw increased participation from students and institutions across the region.
  • 2016: The third edition introduced new competitions and workshops, further establishing Antahpragnya as a significant event in the academic calendar of RGUKT.
  • 2017: This edition continued the trend of growth, with more technical events and a higher number of participants, reflecting the festival's rising popularity.
  • 2018: Antahpragnya 2018, the fourth edition, was inaugurated by Dr. A. Ashok, Vice-Chancellor of RGUKT and Commissioner of the Board of Intermediate Education, Telangana. The festival featured over 90 events organized by various engineering and other departments, with approximately 200 live models on display. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between RGUKT and the Non-Ferrous Materials Technology Development Centre (NFTDC) to collaborate on research and academic programs.[1]
  • 2020: The sixth edition, Antahpragnya 2020, was inaugurated by M. Prashanthi, District Collector of Nirmal. The three-day festival, held from January 31 to February 2, 2020, adopted the theme "Spot and Encourage Rural Tech Innovators." It hosted over 200 technical events, including Campus Farming competitions, Robo Racing, Development of Ideal Villages, and a National Science Fair. The festival attracted nearly 50,000 participants from nearby regions.[2]

  • Technical Workshops and Competitions: Events such as device debugging, wireless power transfer (Witricity), paper and poster presentations, and technical quizzes have been integral parts of the festival.[3]
  • Working Models and Exhibitions: The festival showcases numerous prototypes and working models developed by students, including technologies like homemade electricity, smart dustbins, automatic irrigation systems, zero-budget farming techniques, and more.
  • Guest Lectures and Workshops: Renowned experts and professionals are invited to deliver lectures and conduct workshops, providing students with insights into various technological advancements and industry trends.
  • Cultural Programs: Alongside technical events, Antahpragnya also features cultural nights, such as "Trinayana," to showcase the artistic and creative talents of students.[4]
