Andrew David (born February 8, 1992), whose full name is Andrew David Edekunu, is a Nigerian gospel singer, songwriter, and recording artist. Known for his inspirational and faith-driven music, Andrew has steadily risen within the Christian music scene in Nigeria. He blends traditional gospel elements with contemporary sounds to deliver messages of hope, grace, and spiritual awakening.
Early Life and Background
Andrew David was born in Lagos, Nigeria, into a family of five. He hails from Isoko, Delta State. Andrew began singing at a very young age, performing in his local church in Ikorodu. Raised in a Christian household, his religious background includes Deeper Life Church, Purity Bible Church, and Winners Chapel. It was at Winners Chapel where he learned to play the acoustic guitar under the mentorship of Mr. Alao.
Andrew wrote his first song, “Lord You Reign,” in 2011, which he is set to release on April 12, 2025, featuring Oluwafunke. His musical journey continued as he pursued his studies at Yaba College of Technology (Yabatech), where he served as a choir member and welfare coordinator during his National Diploma program. He later became the choir director during his Higher National Diploma (HND) program.
Career
Andrew David began his professional music journey with the release of his debut single, “Song of Angels”, on February 17, 2023. The song marked his entrance into the gospel music space with a message focused on worship and the presence of God.
In anticipation of his debut extended play (EP), Andrew hosted a listening party in April 2025, introducing a wider audience to his unique sound and ministry. The EP, titled Emerge, is scheduled for release on April 12, 2025, and is expected to further establish his position as a gospel music artist in Nigeria.
