All Things Open is an annual open source conference held in Raleigh, NC since 2013. It includes two days of sessions for the main conference, preceded by a free-to-attend day that includes the Community Leadership Summit and Inclusion and Diversity in Open Source sessions event.[1]
The event has grown from fewer than 1,000 attendees in its first year[2] to more than 5,500 in 2024.[3]
History
[edit]The first All Things Open conference was held in 2013, sponsored by IT-ology, a non-profit for promoting careers in IT.[4] IT-ology had been hosting the Palmetto Open Source Software Conference (POSSCON) in Columbia, SC since 2008.[5]
All Things Open is now run by its own entity, incorporated as an LLC in South Carolina in 2015.[6] It became a certified B Corp in April 2018.[7]
All Things AI
[edit]The October 2025 All Things Open conference schedule included three AI-focused tracks, and nearly 25% of all talks were on AI.[1] In March of 2025, All Things Open also launched a standalone AI event called All Things Open AI.[8] All Things Open.ai was incorporated as a separate LLC in November 2024[9], but the event was renamed All Things AI.[10]
