ai.io is an AI technology and data company based in London, England, specialising in human performance analysis across sports and other sectors. Founded in 2017 by Darren Peries, ai.io’s product ecosystem comprises three core solutions—3DAT, aiScout and aiLab—that deliver markerless motion capture, talent identification and real-time sports-science analytics through cloud and edge deployments.[1]

History

[edit]

ai.io was established in 2017 by Darren Peries after his son Reef was released by the Tottenham Hotspur youth academy. Peries developed the company’s first prototype to democratise talent identification, enabling amateur players worldwide to generate reliable, academy-quality performance data using only a mobile device. Early validation trials were conducted in partnership with Chelsea F.C.’s academy in 2018 hat later expanded into a full partnership[2]

In 2021, aiScout’s assessments were adopted by Premier League club Burnley for academy trials. The company has since expanded its global footprint across Europe, North America, and India.[3] [4] [5] [6]

In April 2025, Saudi Company for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI), a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF), partnered with ai.io to accelerate its global expansion and integrate its technology across sport and industry worldwide. [7]

Products

3DAT

[edit]

3DAT is a markerless motion-capture engine that analyses any 2D video—from mobile phones, tablets, drones or historical archives—to extract over 22 body points, joint angles and biomechanical metrics. The AI-driven system benchmarks performance against elite athlete data, supporting applications from talent identification to injury prevention.

aiScout

[edit]

aiScout is a mobile and desktop scouting platform that enables players to complete club-branded drills and submit match footage for automated analysis.
