APsystems (formerly APS)[1] ) is a company that designs and manufactures power conversion devices for the renewable energy industry, including solar inverters. The company has business units in China, Washington and Netherlands and other offices in Australia, Mexico and France. APsystems is known for its multi-module microinverters.[2]

Company history

[edit]

APsystems was founded in Silicon Valley[3][4] in March 2010 by Dr. Zhi-min Ling and Dr. Yuhao Luo, two engineers who invented a solar microinverter which converts energy produced by solar panels into usable power for residential or commercial properties. Finding funding and manufacturing partners overseas, they opened a facility in Jiaxing, China in 2010 to begin manufacturing solar microinverters. They opened a sales office in Sydney, Australia and an office in Shanghai in 2011 to serve and support the APAC region. They met partners in Seattle in 2012 and partnered with them to launch APsystems microinverters in the United States. In 2014, an office was opened in Rotterdam, the Netherlands to address the European solar market.[5][6]

In 2015, APsystems hired Olivier Jacques as managing director of its EMEA business unit and in 2017, named him as president of USA & EMEA business units and global executive vice president.[7][8] In the same year, the company also opened an office in Mexico and launched its YC600 microinverter in Australia.[9] APsystems is available in five continents.[10] In 2018, Olivier Jacques was made President of Global Business Units and Global Executive VP. In early 2019, the company introduced a new microinverter for residential applications in the US.[11][12]

Partners

[edit]

In March 2019, APsystems partnered with Navetto to distribute their offerings in the Benelux.[8] The company has also partnered with Sunnova and Sungage Financial to present the microinverter technology for residential solar applications.[13][14]

Community involvement

[edit]

APsystems donates to a non-profit organization called Extend the Day through its Lights for Learning program, which gives solar reading lights to school children in needy countries with no access to electricity.[15]
