Draft:ADC codec

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Adaptive Differential Coding (ADC) is a lossy audio compression algorithm based on time-domain processing. It uses adaptive differential encoding techniques to reduce redundancy in audio signals and compress data efficiently. The codec works by predicting the next sample and quantizing the prediction error, with parameters that adjust dynamically according to the signal characteristics.

Unlike frequency-domain codecs, ADC does not employ transforms such as DCT or FFT. The project is under active development and has reached version 0.70. A preliminary version of the upcoming release has been made available for testing purposes. The codec is designed for low-complexity environments and offers competitive performance at medium-to-low bitrates.

Discussions and comparative evaluations can be found on various technical forums frequented by developers and audio compression enthusiasts.

The codec was created and developed by Nania Francesco.~~ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_Markov_compression~~
