On March 10, 2025, a DDoS attack targeted X.[a] The site was taken down at around 7am PT (2pm GMT).[1]
Elon Musk initially claimed that the attacks were committed by a large coordinated group and/or country. He later appeared on Fox News that same day and alleged that IP addresses in Ukraine were responsible.[2] However, the Pro-Palestine hacking group Dark Storm Team claimed in a Telegram post that they were behind the attacks but later deleted their post.[3]
Downdetector showed thousands of reported outages that spiked at around 10:45pm PT (5:45am GMT). A second surge occurred throughout midday. Around 40,000 users reported they couldn't access the platform.[4][5]
