He is a Democratic candidate for the United States House of Representatives in Arizona's 1st Congressional District for the 2026 election.[1][2] Redkey is also known for his involvement in a long-running conservatorship case in Arizona, which has been covered in local media and litigated in the Arizona Court of Appeals and the Arizona Supreme Court.[3]
Early life and education
[edit]Redkey was born in Bloomington, Indiana. He attended Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix, Arizona.
Redkey earned an Associate of Arts degree from Glendale Community College in 2014, followed by concurrent Bachelor of Arts degrees in English and Communication from Arizona State University in 2016, graduating summa cum laude.[4] He completed a Master of Education in Secondary Education at Arizona State University in 2019, and later a Graduate Certificate in Rhetoric, Writing, and Digital Media Studies from Northern Arizona University.
Career
[edit]Redkey has worked as a secondary-education English teacher in Arizona.[3] He previously worked for the CDC-INFO national information line through a federal contractor.[3]
He is the owner of TBI Writer LLC, a small writing and communications business, and is the author of Lies Within the Shattered Curriculum, published through Kindle Direct Publishing.[5]
Conservatorship and legal proceedings
[edit]Redkey has been involved in a conservatorship case in Arizona since 2009. Court records indicate that the conservatorship followed injuries he sustained in a 2007 automobile accident.[3]
The case has resulted in multiple proceedings before the Arizona Court of Appeals, including Redkey v. Clarke et al., CV-24-0476, Redkey v. McCollum et al., CV-25-0236, and a Petition for Review before the Arizona Supreme Court in David Redkey v. Stephanie McCollum, CV-25-0289-PR.[6][7][8]
In 2023, Redkey appeared in an ABC15 Arizona segment regarding proposed reforms to the state's probate and conservatorship systems, where he discussed his experience in probate court.[3] In 2025, he also spoke out against financial exploitation of people in conservatorship and guardianships.[9]
2026 congressional campaign
[edit]In 2025, Redkey filed to run as a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in Arizona's 1st Congressional District.[4] His campaign platform includes economic policy, government accountability, disability rights, and public oversight of probate systems.[10]
On October 28, 2025, appearing on Lloyd Chapman's American Small Business League Podcast, Mr. Redkey describes his economic policy as "Foundation Economics," a version of Trickle-up economics/bubble-up economics.[11][12]
Redkey states that he does not solicit campaign donations and instead relies on signature gathering and direct voter outreach.[13]
Personal life
[edit]Public sources indicate that Redkey is married and has children.[14] He has publicly discussed his recovery from the 2007 automobile accident in interviews and campaign materials.[3]
