Hugo Mallet

Hugo Mallet (born in London) is a british opera singer.

Life

Studied singing at the Royal Northern College of Music (Manchester). He attended masterclasses with Carlo Bergonzi, Alfredo Kraus, Hughues Cuenod, Brigitte Fassbaender, Sherril Milnes ans Alberto Zedda. His main teacher was Nicolai Gedda. Before this he was a guitarist in various London Rockbands. House contracts in Cologne, Detmold and Freiberg. Since then , as a freelance singer, he sang in Chemnitz (Love and Other Demons- Ygnacio, Rusalka - Prince), Nordhausen (Andrea Chenier- Chenier, Les Contes d'Hoffmann - Hoffmann)) and the Croatian National Opera (HNK) in Zagreb (Lohengrin - Lohengrin). In 2013 he gave his debut as Siegfried (Siegfried) at Longborough Opera Festival under the aegis of Anthony Negus. He later sang the role in Peking at the Chinese National Opera at the N.C.P.A. under the baton of Maestro Yu Feng, and in Linz (Landestheater Linz) with Maestro Dennis Russell Davies. He has sung Lohengrin also in Bratislava, Ljubljana, Augsburg and Würzburg.
