프로발 다슈굽토(벵골어: প্রবাল দাশগুপ্ত Prabāl Dāśgupta IPA: [ˈprobal ˈd̪aʃɡupt̪o], 에스페란토: Probal Daŝgupto 프로발 다슈굽토, 1953–)는 인도의 언어학자이자 에스페란티스토다. 세계 에스페란토 협회 회장을 역임하였다.

생애

1953년 9월 19일 콜카타에서 태어났다. 1969년부터 17세의 나이에 이미 컬로처이 칼만과 에스페란토로 편지를 주고받았고, 라빈드라나트 타고르의 시의 번역 및 에스페란토의 문법에 대하여 토론하였다.

뉴욕 대학교에서 벵골어 문법에 대한 논문으로 언어학 박사 학위를 받았다. 1977년 10월~1979년 1월 동안에는 유엔에서 세계 에스페란토 협회를 대표하였다.

1982년에는 인도 에스페란토 연합(에스페란토: Federacio Esperanto de Barato)를 창립하였고, 1983년 에스페란토 학술회 회원이 되었다. 1987년~1989년에는 인도 에스페란토 연합의 회장을 맡았다.

1989년 하이데라바드 대학교의 응용 언어학 교수가 되었고, 1990년에 저널 《언어 문제와 언어 계획》(영어: Language Problems and Language Planning)의 편집인이 되었다. 2006년 8월부터 콜카타 인도 통계 연구소(영어: Indian Statistical Institute)에도 소속되어 있다.

2001년에는 에스페란토 학술회 회장으로 부임하였다. 2004년에 미국 언어학회 명예 회원이 되었다. 2007년부터 2013년까지 세계 에스페란토 협회 회장으로 부임하였다.

모국어인 벵골어 말고도, 영어·프랑스어·독일어·산스크리트어·에스페란토를 구사한다.
