  5. ^ a b c A nasal consonant always assimilates its place of articulation to that of the following consonant. Thus, before /g/ or /k/, it is velar ŋ, and before /v/ or /f/, it is labiodental ɱ. It is alveolar m only before /p/ or /b/.
