A Surge of Power (Jen Reid) 2020
Description: Statue "A Surge of Power (Jen Reid) by Marc Quinn placed on plinth where statue of Edward Colston previously stood.
URL: http://alexrichards.me.uk/A%20Surge%20of%20Power%20(Jen%20Reid)%2015th%20July%202020(crop).jpg
License: Fair Use for current event news reporting

Author/Copyright Holder's Name: Marc Quinn
Article To Be Used On/Reason For Upload: Fair Use for current event. The copyright item in question is the statue - the photograph is my own work, which in keeping with UK copyright law for purposes of news reporting is cropped to show only the subject, and kept as small as possible. For use in "A Surge of Power (Jen Reid) 2020"
AlexJRichards (talk) 21:49, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi AlexJRichards. Since you took the photo, and UK law has Freedom of Panorama for sculptures (see [1]), you may upload the photo to Wikimedia Commons yourself. Please go to c:Special:UploadWizard and follow the instructions, then reply here. Best, --Mdaniels5757 (talk) 22:04, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Mdaniels5757, the fullsize image is already used on the article A_Surge_of_Power_(Jen_Reid)_2020, however unfortunately because of the oddities of UK copyright law, there is a deletion request due to the vague defintion around "permanently situated" statues, see https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:A_Surge_of_Power_(Jen_Reid)_15th_July_2020.jpg someone mentioned uploading via this with a smaller/cropped version with justification for fair use. AlexJRichards (talk) 22:13, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
- Understood.
On hold until the Commons DR is closed. --Mdaniels5757 (talk) 17:51, 22 July 2020 (UTC)
- @AlexJRichards: Wikipedia’s non-free content use policy is much more restrictive than the concept of fair use. So, any photo of the statue uploaded locally under a license of {{Non-free 3D art}} would almost certainly be only considered acceptable to use in A Surge of Power (Jen Reid) 2020 per item 6 of WP:NFC#UUI. Trying to use the file in other articles which mention the sculpture as part of a discussion about a “current event“ most likely wouldn’t be considered policy compliant. Before anyone uploads such a file as non-free, I think it should be clarified as to exactly which article or articles the file is going to be used in and how the use is justified per relevant policy. — Marchjuly (talk) 22:13, 27 July 2020 (UTC)
- Understood.

Logo for 2008-09 NBL season page
Description: This is a logo for 2008–09 NBL season page. I copied logo from the 2007-08 NBL Media Guide bottom left corner and adjusted logo for page.

Article To Be Used On/Reason For Upload: I am a NBL fan and would like to add the official NBL logo to 2008-09 NBL season for the page's infobox.
Giacontigers (talk) 1 Augsut, 2020 (UTC)
- That logo is the same logo as is being discussed at Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2020 July 30#File:NBL Logo Australia (2006).png as explained on your user talk page. You don’t need to have someone upload the same file again if all you want to do is have the file name changed. It might, on the other hand, be possible to upload the media guide’s front cover and use that in the infobox of the individual season’s articles instead of just using the logo. — Marchjuly (talk) 00:44, 1 August 2020 (UTC)
Is it possible uploading front page of the Media Guide with upload wizard and then uploading the logo as I adjusted, if that makes any sense? I had to use the snipping tool to cut the image out from the Media Guide because it was the biggest size of that logo I could find rather then a small logo which is worthless for viewers seeing. I Then had to edit the logos background and make it have a transparent background because it wouldn't be acceptable for Wikipedia of course. I am just worried editing the existing logo because I do not want to get more in trouble over this logo.
