07:08:51, 23 July 2020 review of draft by Wkigenyi

A wikipedia article does not show in the search engine results. What would prevent a published article from showing up in the search (Google) results? An example of such an article is Andrew G Naimanye. How can that be resolved? Wkigenyi (talk) 07:08, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wkigenyi New articles do not show up in search engines immediately; they must first be marked as formally reviewed; after that(or 90 days, whichever is sooner) search engines can then index the article and it will appear. I will note that the article you mention has been nominated for deletion. 331dot (talk) 09:22, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

15:06:55, 23 July 2020 review of draft by Bingee101

Hi, I had a draft for Draft:Dehd rejected due to a lack of reliable sources and lack of notability threshold. I have since bolstered the presence of reliable sources (NPR, Variety, Pitchfork, Chicago Tribune, The New Yorker). I believe the subject of the article does meet the notability threshold:

  • Criteria #6 (independently notable ensembles) is met by two of the members having been prominent members of NE-HI and Lala Lala, respectively.
  • Criteria #12 regarding substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or television network is met by the two National Public Radio citations (3 and 8), indicating that they were the featured subject of national broadcast segments.
  • Criteria #10 regarding use of work in notable media is met by their song being prominently used in The CW television show Charmed (2018 series) (citation 6). Thank you! Bingee101 (talk) 06:16, 23 July 2020 (UTC)
  • Sourcing on international tour is provided (citation 7)

I was wondering how I could further improve the impartiality and sourcing for the article - I am unaffiliated with the band, I just believe that they are prominent enough to have an article.

16:09:43, 23 July 2020 review of submission by Jessica Washington

Jessica Washington (talk) 16:09, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning! Thank you for the assistance in creating this Wikipedia page. I have a questions in regards to the page, please accept my apologies in advance as I am a beginner at this so answers to my question may be able to be found in another area. The first question I have is in regards to the "citation needed" within the article. There are maybe 1-2 instances that I can locate a citation, but how or what is sufficient for citation in this example: Rando was born in Brooklyn, New York, and spent most of his childhood in the Lewiston/Auburn area and the rural area of Casco, Maine.[citation needed] - how would I cite this? Thank you so much!! Jessica Washington (talk) 16:09, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This page is for questions about the Articles for creation process. Please consider asking this question at the Wikipedia:Help desk. - This is where editors will try to answer any question regarding how to use Wikipedia. Just follow the link, select the relevant section, and ask away. You could always try searching Wikipedia for any help related to the topic you want to know more about. I hope this helps!
Your article is already in mainspace, so it is no longer in the scope of Articles for Creation. We reviewers must turn our attention to hundreds of other drafts that come in every day. Eternal Shadow Talk 16:23, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

23:03:47, 23 July 2020 review of submission by Thespiansapien

Hi, I was told that IMDB is not a reliable source because it is user generated so I replaced it with tv.apple.com citation for film and tv credits. Is that a reliable source since it is not user generated? Also, am I supposed to remove the "Review waiting, please be patient." template at the bottom of the page for a resubmission? Thanks for the help.

Thespiansapien (talk) 23:03, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thespiansapien, tv.apple.com is not a reliable source. Further, don't remove the template. Thank you! JavaHurricane 04:40, 25 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Since 2015 Founder of Blood is Blood, Jordan Moll-Vigrass's Advocacy for Change has encouraged the FDA to change their MSM Blood Ban from a once Indefinite, 12-Month and now 3 Month Deferral period by Remaining Abstinent for a whole year so he could donate, to holding 5 Blood Drives(Buffalo, NY), 2 Blood Drives(Virginia Beach, VA) saving over 597 lives and I feel our advocacy deserves notice and present merit, however, I have no idea how to write a Wikipedia and I also feel I might be biased.

Is the Draft Draft:Priya Shah is ready for submission? Iamsouravrana (talk) 16:23, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Iamsouravrana, It is in a submittable state. If I reviewed it now I would push it back to you for better referencing with this message: For a living person we have a high standard of referencing. Every substantive fact you assert, especially one that is susceptible to potential challenge, requires a citation with a reference that is about them, and is independent of them, and is in WP:RS, and is significant coverage. Please also see WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources and WP:SELFPUB which has clear limitations on self published sources. Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact cited, that meet these tough criteria is likely to make this draft a clear acceptance (0.9 probability). Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the person is not suitable for inclusion, certainly today. Fiddle Faddle 17:01, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Singer Ravindra Singh (ec) You have not indicated, or at least the sources you have offered do not indicate, which notability criteria for musicians you meet. Why you declined the article Yvoneokoye20 (talk) 05:50, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft has been declined twice and rejected four times, time to drop the stick. Theroadislong (talk) 14:31, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Yvoneokoye20: this was declined 2 times for lacking reliable sources that establish the notability of this person. It was since rejected 4 (!) times for failing to adress the last decline/reject reason. This brings up two related questions:
  1. Why do you need to get this published? The last two rejections where on the same day, and we dont operate on dealines.
  2. Is there an undisclosed financialor other connection between the subject and you? If so, you will need to comply with WP:COI and WP:PAID. The latter is a Terms of Use requirement and not negotiable.
Please note that a reviewer (@Theroadislong:) has determined yust today that this does not establish notability. If I or some other reviewer sees this draft again, it will very likely be sent to WP:MFD. Victor Schmidt mobil (talk) 16:13, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Inception 111 (talk) 13:32, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I have already mentioned that I am not getting paid by anyone to edit the page ( just like any other editor on the Wikipedia), I thought that's the purpose of editing or creating articles on the Wikipedia. Please remove the messages from the page. I spent too much time trying to help artists anywhere and yet find it difficult to publish an article or help artists. Also, this artist is a known artist in the film industry and I believe there are enough sources to claim him as a noble person. Thank you.Inception 111 (talk) 13:32, 27 July 2020 (UTC)inception 111[1][reply]

Inception 111 What is your motivation for helping artists? Helping any group of people is not usually a motivation to write an article unless there is some promotional aspect behind it(even if you are not paid). Promotional editing is not permitted, whether you are paid or not. In this case, it does not appear that Mr. Tavoosi meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable filmmaker. 331dot (talk) 14:02, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Inception 111 please look carefully at what you wish to accomplish.
Wikipedia is a rewarding hobby, and will absorb all the time you choose to give to it in productive editing. There are a huge number of tasks beyond creating new articles. Improving articles is huge fun. As your experience grows you may wish to get involved with technical aspects
When you create an article, let go of it. It is no longer yours, it is ours. All of us may improve it, tear it apart, suggest improvements, nominate it to ba a good article, offer it for deletion.
Please do not edit here to help anyone. Edit here to help yourself instead. Be curious, follow threads, find places that need articles, articles in real you had no prior interest in. But do not, I beg you, get involved with the murky world of conflict of interest Fiddle Faddle 21:09, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

18:06:48, 27 July 2020 review of submission by Verybusybee

Hi there! I submitted a page for review called Outlier.org and it was rejected by AngusWOOF. By the way, thanks so much AngusWOOF for your speedy review! Wikipedia said that "The proposed article does not have sufficient content to require an article of its own, but it could be merged into the existing article at Aaron Rasmussen." Similarly, AngusWOOF left the following comment, "This should be described in Aaron Rasmussen’s article first as a section, and then if it’s too big for that, then it can be proposed as a split, but I don’t see how it’s independently notable at this point."

This was my first time attempting to create a page, so I wanted to double-check that formatting, proper citations, etc was not the reason why this page was not approved? Would love to know this for future purposes.

More importantly, I wanted to see what needs to be done for the Outlier.org page I submitted to become "independently notable" and, therefore, approved? There is other information I may provide about the company to "bulk" up the page: Information regarding course structure, the company's mission/why it was founded, and product features. Would adding such information possibly help give the article "sufficient" content for approval? Or, is the reviewer's comment that the company is not "independently notable at this point" simply saying that the company (Outlier.org) has not reached a point in its life to be approved to have its own page? AKA, It's not what I wrote about the company BUT rather the company must receive more public recognition, develop more courses, and be around for longer in order to be approved?

Thanks so much in advance for answering these questions!

Verybusybee (talk) 18:06, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Verybusybee, This is a very quick scan of your draft without getting the drains up
The section "Notable Press" is an imperfect way to handle references. It bulks up a reference list without adding value. Wherever the final destination of the material, use each reference to state a fact and verify it, provided there is significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, and in WP:RS
I find I am not keen on a list of instructors. "Notable" used in this context appears to add more clout than the instructor requires anyway, and seeing the word is a red flag for me.
If Fast Company's award is important then reference can be used to illustrate the fact for which it is important. Generally I find that articles listing awards contain puffery

I would like to note that the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, were two separate entities, with different constitutions, political leadership, diplomatic relationship with foreign countries, and form of governance, with the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia acting as a federation, and State Union of Serbia and Montenegro acting as a confederacy, with the possibility of Montenegrin independence guaranteed in its constitution. It therefore seems that not allowing for a separate article on each state, undermines any potential reader's knowledge of Balkan history. I must stress that the two states were not the same states. The existence of an article on the Kingdom of Yugoslavia does not prevent an article on the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from existing, and the same can be applied here.

Azaan Habib (talk) 18:55, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done The article on Federal_Republic_of_Yugoslavia already exists. They were pretty much the same state but with different names. Eternal Shadow Talk 22:31, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed your draft text, as it is linked to above. 331dot (talk) 19:04, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Uyimwen1981 Your draft has been rejected, meaning it will not be considered further. It appears that you do not meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable musician, as shown with significant coverage in independent reliable sources. Please also note that autobiographical articles, while not forbidden, are strongly discouraged on Wikipedia. Please see the autobiography policy. If you just want to tell the world about yourself, you should use social media. 331dot (talk) 19:06, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The editor user:Hallieedit has cleaned up the article. I've removed a whole bundle of stuff. It is now fairly well referenced, but found out it is create-protected, when I tried to promote it to mainspace. It was some mess and I can understand why. I think it would survive an Afd

Mr. Herath is the Secretary to the 20th Speaker of the Parliament of Sri Lanka and the Co-Organizer of Attanagalla Electorate for the United National Party - but his article has been continuously declined stating "no notability" - I want to know what more I could to do to help improve this article so that it can be accepted?

Thank you so much for re-reviewing this content. I have some confusion as how it has not met notability requirements? It has been the subject of significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources (as referenced). All the content is verifiable.

There are pages with less or a similar amount of external references that have been published in the same space such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usersnap, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biteable & https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aha!_(company)

Thanks again.

Jaisonabraham2020 (talk) 05:20, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

can i resubmit the article. This is not a promotional content. This is the life story of a person who is Imran Faiz. I can edit it and resubmit. Kindly give more chance to do it. Please i kindly request. This is actually the life story of a person who has become a entrpreneur in his young age. I can really re edit and send all the links properly. Please accept it. Jaisonabraham2020 (talk) 05:38, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jaisonabraham2020. Rejection is meant to convey that you should stop, not create a new version, because the topic is hopeless. No amount of editing would make the draft acceptable. So volunteers do not intend to review the subject again. You may wish to consider alternative outlets, with different inclusion criteria, for your writing. --Worldbruce (talk) 12:16, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi AL-Hassan.M.S. Editors may create a user page containing limited autobiographical information for the purpose of collaboration with other editors. If that was what you were trying to do with Draft:ALHASSAN_SHALIBAN, then you do not need to submit it for review. Simply write at User:AL-Hassan.M.S.
It is draft articles that need to be submitted for review before being published as encyclopedia articles. If that is what your sandbox submission was intended as, then please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space, blog, or social networking site. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. 23:15:21, 28 July 2020 review of submission by Wikintastic

Dear Wikipedia Admins,

I've created my first article with all my passion to this source and I've tried my best to do the article similar to ones which are already existed. However it was rejected due to several reasons, which I found objective and made another editing. I was sure that this time everything will be ok, because I changed everything according to mentioned rejection comments and informed the same user to re-review it. But the article was rejected again and this time with two new comments: - using of too many bold - DOUBT that notable for wiki

If these comments are right, why he didn't mentioned these one as well during first rejection? anyway, I removed all those bolds (just wanted article to look nice with that bolds), but how can user can reject an article due to his own doubt?

I've created article about a rising EDM producer and dj from Azerbaijan, who is local star and Internationally well known remixer with releases for big artists by big labels. There are no logic to reject this article, while there are several other wikipedia pages dedicated to other Azerbaijani dj producers and musicians who are even unknown internationally.

Please review it again and I Hope for your right decision and support. If there is a need for additional information or proof, I'm happy to provide.

Thank you!

00:03:26, 29 July 2020 review of submission by Paul.jonah.paul

Since I submitted Draft:Shift4 Payments one year ago, the company has gone public on the NYSE. WP: Listed says it would be unusual for a NYSE-listed company not to have a Wikipedia article: “sufficient independent sources almost always exist for such companies, so that notability can be established using the primary criterion discussed above. Examples of such sources include independent press coverage and analyst reports.” In this case, high-quality, independent analyst reports I have cited in the completely rewritten and resourced draft include those from: Goldman Sachs, Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley, Citi, S&P Global, and RBC Capital. Since these analyst reports are behind expensive paywalls, I have included relevant excerpts on the Talk page of the draft. In addition, there is now mainstream editorial coverage from Reuters [1], Barrons [2], Bloomberg [3], Yahoo Finance (the news division, with independent reporters) [4], Market Watch [5], Fast Company [6] and Business Insider [7] that Motley Foo [8] and Seeking Alpha [https://seekingalpha.com/news/3587376-credit-suisse-takes-bull-case-on-shift4-payments} could be added, if needed. Every three months there will be a new wave of analyst reporting coinciding with the mandatory public quarterly earning reports. FYI, I have modeled this article from Elgato and Tapad, both rated WP: Good Articles, to come up with the format of the draft, specifically separating out a Services section below History. As disclosed on Talk, I have a COI. Paul.jonah.paul (talk) 00:03, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

00:31:13, 29 July 2020 review of submission by MAKANYC

I am not questioning your professionalism about what should pass or what should not. But Before it was required for person to have articles written about him/her. now it seems to be not enough? Or should person have 25k instagram followers and than its notable. don't be this hypocritical. I asked what is notable you guys send me link about it. This person completed every requirement to be included in wikipedia. Please do not apply your own understanding of notable to any submitted subjects.

Thanks. MAKANYC (talk) 00:31, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

MAKANYC, I see from comments on the draft that you need to disclose paid editing before making further edits. Please do so, because yiu risk being blocked if you do not. {{UPE}} has been deployed on it. While paid editing is allowed the declaration must be made and must be clear, and in accordance with your policies.
In answer to your other question, no. You are in danger of being accused of casting aspersing upon the editor who has rejected your advert. It required, requires, better references. For a living person we have a high standard of referencing.
If you are to overturn the rejection you have a great deal of work to do after you have made the declaration of paid editing. Fiddle Faddle 10:28, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

How many of the 248 first level country administrative divisions do I need citations for in order for it to get approved?

Onehundredhundredking (talk) 01:00, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Onehundredhundredking, That is not the correct question. The correct question is "Do all entries on this list require references to prove that they belong?"
Generally the answer is that all list members require such a reference Fiddle Faddle 10:22, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

10:35:53, 29 July 2020 review of submission by Dr. Susanne Saygin

The reviewer refused my submission on the grounds that it does not meet Wikipedia's minimum standard for inline citations, admonishing me to "Please check how to reference an article on Wikipedia. You need to find at least 3 reliable, independent sources which discuss the subject and use these as inline citations in the text". Yet, the only inline citation in my article is a crossreference to an - already approved - wikipedia-article on Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. I don't see/understand, why I would have to come up with and footnote three independent sources for a mere crossreference? What precisely is the problem here? Thanks for your feedback
