– First of all, AFAIK, Wikipedia never uses article titles that both explain an abbreviation and also redundantly display the abbreviation itself in parentheses the way this one is doing – we should pick just one form or the other. Second, the use of two capital letters in "SYstem" in this title is contrary to MOS:TM's instruction to follow ordinary English styling and sentence case. Wikipedia doesn't use capital letters in its titles just to illustrate how to abbreviate something; sentence case is preferred. And thirdly, are we really confident that yesterday's primary topic move of DAISY Digital Talking Book to DAISY is appropriate? - It looks like both are usually known as "DAISY" - possibly use this with disambiguation added. If the longer names are used, they should be in title case, as they are names of a specific system and a specific standard. Peter James (talk) 10:55, 2 November 2019 (UTC)
- Relisting comment - there was a move review at Wikipedia:Move_review/Log/2019_November, and consensus was to overturn and relist, as discussion was ongoing. Barrelproof, Peter James, plus any other interested parties, please discuss the issues around the two titles, and come up with a consensus agreement about the best way forward. - I don't object to moving them to Digital Automated Identification System and Digital Accessible Information System, on the basis of the assertion by Peter James that they are proper names. I also do not object to using something like DAISY (species identification) or DAISY (publication format) / DAISY (technical standard) / DAISY (talking book format), if the abbreviation is more recognizable than the spelled-out name in one or both cases. These issues are not what I was complaining about when I proposed the moves. I'm glad to see the discussion reopened, since I wasn't very confident of the outcome myself. —BarrelProof (talk) 01:56, 12 December 2019 (UTC)
- I'm a completely disinterested party, but presumably I am also welcome to comment. Four points (largely agreeing with BarrelProof):
- WP:AT#Avoid ambiguous abbreviations is quite clear: "It is also unnecessary to include an acronym in addition to the name in a title".
- In the expansion of the acronym, each word should have an initial capital per WP:NCCAPS. (This also applies in the running text, not just the title.) There are lots of digital automated identification systems, but only one Digital Automated Identification System.
- If there's ambiguity in what DAISY means, then place the articles at the expanded titles per WP:NATURALDIS, and use the DAB at DAISY (or Daisy) to disambiguate. (Currently the first redirects to the second.)
- The proposed disambiguators "DAISY (technical standard)" and so on may be useful as redirects. I can imagine they are in fact backronyms: for if not, the talking book format could have memorably be called "DAIS", since a dais is a platform supporting a book...

- @Waddie96: I'm not sure what you're trying to do here. DAISY is now a redirect to the disambiguation page Daisy. Digital automated identification system and Digital accessible information system are two completely different things. There no pages to merge. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 10:51, 9 November 2019 (UTC)
