January 2019 Charges

It should be noted that the charges were possibly salacious, given the circumstances and the lack of prosecution, plus the agreement to expunge. Such is a common tactic when the prosecution has a weak or no case at all, yet refuses to drop the case for political reasons.

Please don't block me, this is a legit charge. Remove if necessary. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.194.73.233 (talk) 12:39, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The source in the main article does reference the site above, and it is noted in the main article that the charges were expunged. You could make the case that there should be more emphasis placed on the subject's narrative regarding the dropped charges. Do you have proposed verbiage in mind? saguarosallytalk 01:39, 28 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Trying to change David Stringer biography

The David Stringer biography on Wikipedia has a number of critical mistakes. He no longer owns the Comfort Inn in Prescott, nor is he a convicted child molester. As a reference librarian who sends clients to Wikipedia, I am concerned that there are other factual errors here.

I am putting together an updated bio of Mr. Stringer, that includes what he is doing now, past history and includes the various accusations against him. How can I post this bio, instead of the erroneous entry that is there now? The sources I am using include correspondence with the man himself, newspaper articles, and reports. Please advise.

The current article is still not correct for David Stringer. Specific corrections include:

1. Para 1, line 2. his statement implies that that the investigation involved current charges of alleged conduct from 1983. In fact the charges were resolved in 1984 and expunged in 1990. The Ethics Committee was not investigating new or pending charges. Stringer initially cooperated with the investigation and offered to turn over a 1984 letter from the DC Bar exonerating him from any conduct involving moral turpitude. The letter had been placed under Seal by the Arizona Supreme Court. The offer was rejected. The circumstances are explained in the revised submission.

2. Stringer did not resign in 2018. He won reelection in 2018 and was sworn into the 54th session of the Arizona Legislature in January 2019. He resigned March 27, 2019.

3. Stringer is a current, not a former, elected Precinct Committeeman and Republican State Committeeman. This has been verified with the Yavapai County Recorder and the Yavapai County Republican Party. His terms run to the end of 2020.

4.Stringer was awarded a MA in Education from ASU in December 2018.

5. Stringer did not refer to his statements on immigration as a "value judgment". He said his statements were "factually accurate" and not "racially pejorative."

6. Stringer was not "pressured to resign" from House committees. He was removed unilaterally from two committees by House leadership, but remained on the Government committee at the beginning of 54th session.

7. Stringer never pled guilty to a criminal offense and was not convicted of criminal conduct. He accepted a misdemeanor diversion opportunity offered under Maryland Law called "probation before judgment", with the understanding that the matter was not a conviction and would be eligible for expungement. The revised submission provides the background with cites to the relevant Maryland statutes.

8. Stringer never said that sex trafficking was "not a serious problem". He said he "didn't like to demonize it". The context was demagogic claims by politicians that illegal immigrants are drug smugglers and sex traffickers.

9. Stringer's Maryland case was dismissed and expunged by the Maryland Courts. None of the alleged documents that have been alluded to in media reports have been authenticated by the state of Maryland. In Maryland the case is a legal nullity.

10. Stringer remains an active political figure in Arizona, with both supporters and detractors.
