April 16

NEW NOMINATIONS

NAIA Men's Basketball Tournaments

Category:Palestinian neighborhoods in East Jerusalem

Nominator's rationale: Recently (15 April) created duplicate of the long standing Category:Arab neighborhoods in Jerusalem Icewhiz (talk) 15:23, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Film memes

Nominator's rationale: "Films that are internet memes" is an impossibly vague definition for a category. How can an entire film be an "internet meme"? None of the entries in the category have sources that justify inclusion in this category. Seems to be an excuse to pull together popular movies in a completely arbitrary and personal way. Railfan23 (talk) 13:42, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Books by setting

Nominator's rationale: I am at a loss to understand why this category was created. The only content is the lone subcat, Category:Novels by setting, which is the only possible kind of book that has a "setting". No need to merge as the subcat already has all necessary parents. Anomalous+0 (talk) 11:02, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Bosnian dynasties

Nominator's rationale: merge, overlapping scope, this dynasties category contains noble families just like the noble families category does. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:10, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Years

Nominator's rationale: rename, aligning with the format of most other siblings in Category:Categories by year. Note: if this proposal goes ahead we should also rename some of the subcategories of the above, but I suppose those can be speedied per WP:C2C. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:02, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Albums recorded at Parr Street Studios

Nominator's rationale: The studio is not typically a defining aspect of an album since in most cases it's not going to make a difference where an album was recorded, especially if the studio is itself has not achieved its own notability such as Abbey Road Studios. There is no article for Parr Street Studios. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 04:02, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Boat racing people by Canadian province or territory

Nominator's rationale: Only used as a holder for one category, that category being listed below. See explanation there for proposal. Grutness...wha? 03:16, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Boat racing people from Ontario

Nominator's rationale: Currently only contains a handful of articles, which are a peculiar mishmash of sport sailors and canoeists. No other country, territory, state, province, city, or town has a "Boat racing people" category. The current oddity should be deleted, with no prejudice against creating Category:Canoeists from Ontario and Category:Sailors (sport) from Ontario and the equivalent "by province" categories, which would very likely be populable. See also above nomination. Grutness...wha? 03:16, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Apple original programming

Nominator's rationale: This category was created before the name of the service was known. Now that the service has been announced the category should reflect the common name for the service, which is Apple TV+. See a similar structure at Disney+ and Category:Disney+.  - PaulT+/C 02:11, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame inductees

Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCAWARD (WP:DEFINING)
The Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame is a joint effort of the State Library of Queensland and Queensland University of Technology started in 2009. The focus is on an annual dinner and web site rather than a physical museum so far. The biography articles generally mention it in passing so it doesn't seem defining. The award is also issued to companies and they don't tend to be small corner stores; Qantas Airlines, Domino's Pizza Enterprises and The Courier-Mail are not even remotely definined by this award. The contents of the category are already listified here within the main article. - RevelationDirect (talk) 02:10, 16 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame

Nominator's rationale: Per WP:OCAWARD (WP:NONDEFINING)
The Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame shares space with the Northwest Louisiana History Museum in Natchitoches, Lousiana. Most of the articles I looked at don't even mention the award while a significant minority mention it in passing. Overall this award doesn't seem defining. The contents of the category are already listified here within the main article- -
  • Background This category was overlooked in earlier nominations because it's not anywhere under the Category:Halls of fame tree. In the past, we've deleted similar US state-level sports halls of fame categories here, here and here and, unless there are any more hiding out there, this is the last one. -
