Protecting Brian Quintana

Just to let you know, adding {{sprotected}} or {{protected}} to a page is only a means for an admin to notify users that a page is protected. This does not actually confer protection to the article such as the notice you placed on Brian Quintana. If you need help protecting a page, please contact an admin or request it. Thanks! --Geniac 00:01, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please refrain from removing content from Wikipedia, as you did to Brian Quintana. It is considered vandalism. If you want to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. --Geniac 12:21, 6 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Signature Convention

Hi, 207.200.116.139. I've started a little discussion on Talk:Special relativity about the sign convention. We need to form a consensus on the signature, if one isn't already formed. Other articles look to me like they follow the -+++ convention that is predominant in current GR practice. Anyways, I thought you might like to comment. (Also, I encourage you to get a username if you intend to keep editing.) --MOBle 16:21, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Special relativity

Anon -

You can't run roughshod over this page. A lot of prople have put a lot of work into it. That is not to say that it cannot be improved (and I know that it can be improved). However, you need to have some respect for what has come before, and for this community.

IMO, you are making two bad edits for every good one you do. For example, the business is a nice touch, but the business of the four-velocity always being c is something that will confuse most readers, and belongs in the four velocity article. Another example is your adding "of special relativity" to the statement about how tensors transform. That rule is carried forward into the general theory, so your statement is incorrect.

I am going to revert your edits again, and keep reverting until you start using the talk page so that we work with to create appropriate edits. Being bold is a tenet of Wikipedia, but that is not a liscence to be reckless. --EMS | Talk 17:12, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

SR edits

Stop icon Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. --EMS | Talk 17:26, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User notice: temporary 3RR block
