Code Club AB is a Swedish video game developer based in Motala, founded in 2007 by Rolf Jansson and Markus Persson. The company developed the sandbox massively multiplayer online role-playing game Wurm Online and its standalone version, Wurm Unlimited.

History

Code Club AB was founded as Mojang Specifications AB by Rolf Jansson and Markus Persson in 2007, as the game started to turn a profit.[1] Later in 2007, Markus Persson stepped out of the project and left the company, however, he wished to retain the "Mojang" name for himself, because of which Jansson renamed the company Onetoofree AB.[1] Jansson had issues explaining the name to others without having to spell it out, wherefore, on October 12, 2011, the company announced that it had assumed a new name, Code Club AB.[1][2]

In 2011, the company hired their first paid employee, a client developer who has since been responsible for an overhaul of the lighting system. This was later followed by a lead artist being hired by the developer, resulting in a total of two known employees as of July 2011.[citation needed]
