15:09:08, 30 April 2018 review of submission by Kajalawna
I have written this article about Ram Awana. It was reviewed and accepted on 29th April 2018. On the same day, it was displayed in google search results of "Ram Awana". But today that is after 24hrs it's not showing anywhere on google search. What can I do to make it appear on the very first page of google search result.
Kajalawna (talk) 15:09, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Kajalawna - a quick google search for me brought him up as the third entry (behind the normal image search, and his iMDB page). Looks like the page is indexed correctly Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:22, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Lee Vilenski, Thanks for your quick reply. I am still not able to see his article in the search results. How can I check indexing of this page? [[User:|Kajalawna]]
- Kajalawna - That isn't really a question for us. We generally deal with articles that are in draftspace. However, from my little knowlegde of google, and the New page patrol process (as I am a member), as the article has been reviewed, it will be indexed by google, but it can take different lengths of time for various reasons. As this was yesterday, I'd suggest that it may take a couple days for it to be indexed intirely. Your article has been patrolled, so there is nothing more to do Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:40, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
- Lee Vilenski thank you again for this information. Kajalawna (talk)

Hello - I would like to know if someone could review my draft article Candacemcg (talk) 20:27, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Candacemcg. There is about a two month backlog of drafts, so you can expect it to be reviewed by the end of June. You may continue to improve it in the meantime. A common mistake is to cite sources, such as discogs, that are not reliable. While you wait, also check out other ways to help improve the encyclopedia at Wikipedia:Community portal. --Worldbruce (talk) 01:28, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

Request on 14:20:18, 1 May 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Mileslong123

I keep getting this entry knocked back and i'm not sure why. All the information is factual and independently referenced. I have seen other articles such as Microsoft, Apple and tried to follow those formats. What changes do i need to make? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mileslong123 (talk) 14:20, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
- User:Mileslong123 - See the comments of reviewer User:Theroadislong. The issue is mostly with tone, which is promotional. Are you working for Symbiant? Robert McClenon (talk) 16:12, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
No but it's a company i know a lot about because my brother use to work there. I am using them to cut my teeth on becoming an editor. They alway say write about what you know. So i'm just learning the ropes so to speak. Once i understand what to do and how this works i can move on to more complex subjects. I really appreciate your help. I think this process could be simplified by creating "Templates" which could be designed with the correct format all-ready built in. A lot of time and energy could be saved. As well as Wiki having more content contributed. 1 size fits all may not work but if 3-4 general categories with layouts where sources/references/photos etc. could just be dropped in at a suitable resolution would be great. Also-perhaps the format/template could have the text remain in RED....until the article is approved, once approved the instructions in RED could be dropped. Also i'm new to Wiki, and am struggling to get an article completed for approval, I just had my imagery deleted, without someone asking me if I owned it or not before doing so. I filled out the generated form, and attested to my ownership, and after figuring out how to get images up they were cut. I don't understand why the safeguard, then overiding your own process by making assumptions after the fact.Nujiro (talk) 16:14, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
Nujiro (talk) 16:14, 1 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Nujiro: I don't believe this will work, even with a "3-4 sizes fit all" kind of process, as there are hundreds of different general topics on Wikipedia. If you would like to discuss simplifying the AfC process from a reviewee's standpoint, perhaps you would like to discuss this at WP:VPR or WT:AFC? JTP (talk • contribs) 02:25, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
I would like to but i'm too new to this (Wikipedia) I can only tell you that if the process is to improve, it needs outside help. Not a criticism of volunteers, or staff. But when you are in a state of constantly putting out fires you do the normal thing, try to put out the fire, instead of preventing the fire. This is a massive project, with unknown factors. The unknown needs to be reduced until it is manageable. Outside person can come in and be brutal, and cut out things that need to go. What is startling me is the number of complaints about destructive persons undoing others work. As hard as it is to something approved, and i'm seeing now that I may never have that happen...the thought of some nitwit, with nothing else to do ruining one's achievement, 5 minutes later is disturbing. The same scrutiny for their deconstruction of approved articles, should be applied if at all. In fact I will suggest something, i know i'm new....maybe there's something like it in existence...kill the re-editing and only allow a rebuttal or challenge to articles in question, but on their own page. - @Wendetaa: when you copy-pasted the page, you lost the AFC Submission template, so I have restored it for you so you are in line for review. I also fixed the image in the infobox to display better, and a few other things. MatthewVanitas (talk) 02:39, 3 May 2018 (UTC)

21:37:46, 2 May 2018 review of submission by Emonkhan
Hello there, I would like to know how can I semi protect a Wikipedia article on living person? The available instruction seems confusing to me.
Emonkhan (talk) 21:37, 2 May 2018 (UTC)
- @Emonkhan: Is the article is being explicitly vandalized (like nonsense or insults, or deliberate lies) then post a request at WP:AIV. If instead it is a dispute between editors and the disagreeing editor refuses to cooperate even after you've tried to contact them, use WP:ANI. MatthewVanitas (talk) 02:33, 3 May 2018 (UTC)

09:46:24, 3 May 2018 review of submission by Dino710
Hello, hope you can help. I created the Dean Lomax page which was accepted yesterday, May 2, 2018, but somebody has now suggested deltion of the page. I have read through your wikipedia pages on 'what to do' if this happens and have responded to the comments suggesting deltetion of the page. But, what else can I do to ensure the page is saved and the red box stating 'This article is being considered for deletion in accordance with Wikipedia's deletion policy.' will be removed? I have addressed all comments. Please help.
Dino710 (talk) 09:46, 3 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hello @Dino710:, the box will be removed once the administrator has gotten enough !votes to decide whether the article should be deleted or kept. Hope this helps! You can also continue to improve the article while the deletion discussion is ongoing, to address concerns that those !voting for deletion have raised. MatthewVanitas (talk) 01:42, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

Hello, I am not sure why exactly my article has been declined.

Could you please point out my mistakes?
Thank you,
Robert
Robertpludra (talk) 14:25, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
- Robertpludra - Hmm, the reviewers really weren't very clear here. On a really basic level; wikipedia articles are based on subjects which are notable. Non-notable subjects, or near-notable subjects aren't suitible for inclsion. Some articles are obviously notable (Say Mathematics), whist others are really borderline. Notability is based on what relaible sources (Say the media) say about the subject, to pass the general notability guidelines. In the case of bands, there is also WP:NMUSIC; which boils down to having "multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself". You can read the full guidelines above.
- Without reviewing the article in full, I couldn't tell you if the band is notable, but I'd want to see some notable references talking about the subject. I hope this helps. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 15:07, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Request on 14:40:11, 4 May 2018 for assistance on AfC submission by Purc311
I want to correct an article about Hainesport Township NJ. In the geography section it doesn't include all the neighborhoods that are in that town and actually have a fictitious one listed as well. It seems like it was rejected because I need to use a different template . Not sure which one being that I am not a computer person this is difficult. And I verified it by the Hainesport School Superintend's office and I am a life resident. It was rejected because the editor indicated I wasn't enough on my own to proof this information but nothing was indicated about the Hainesport Schools Superintend's Office . That can be easily verified . I received an Email from their office with this information before trying to correct these errors. Can someone can help me resolve these changes I would appreciate it.

Purc311 (talk) 14:40, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Purc311 - I think there's been a misunderstanding. As you are now an WP:AUTOCONFIRMED member, you can freely edit: the article. Where you have posted this is as a draft; and the helpdesk is for brand new articles. Hope that helps Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:56, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
- P.S. I looked at the article. It seems like you edited a direct quotation. Even if the information is incorrect, wikipedia deals with quotes directly. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:58, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

- Hi Quetta87300, Wikiwand is not Wikipedia, we have no interest in what they do. In any event comparing to other articles is pointless because they may also have problems. Rather just follow the guidance. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 21:19, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

I am trying to add a table of symbols with explanations. The symbols are not unicode symbols, they are in the private unicode plane of musicXML. Is it ok to create a jpeg of the table?
MatthewDougherty (talk) 19:41, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
- Hi MatthewDougherty PNG format is preferred because it scales without blurring, far better than jpeg, which is lossy. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 21:14, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Thanks Roger. I had to put the graphic into wikimedia first, doing it under wikipedia it was rejected not being a photo.
It seem tables are not allowed as images, must be pictures with a few exceptions. Any ideas how to proceed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by MatthewDougherty (talk • contribs) 22:39, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

It is obvious the reviewer failed to take the time to read the article and simply cosigned the previous review of a version with 0 references. DGG claims that the company is still in the planning stages. However, this is simply false. It launched beta in March 2017, was open to the public as of November 2017, and currently has 2.5 million registered users.[1] I have provided several more sources establishing WP:GNG: [2], [3], [4], [5], [6]. If we need more: [7], [8], [9], [10], [11]... ShadesHeroGurly (talk) 22:41, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
- Of you have improved the article, just submit it again. Someone else will review it. I point out the NYTitem is just a paragraph in a more general orticle, amd that some of the other articles trike me as advertorials. DGG ( talk ) 07:16, 5 May 2018 (UTC)
