The Xiaomi Mi 6 is a smartphone developed by Xiaomi. It is part of Xiaomi's high-end smartphone line, and was released in April 2017.[2][3]

Specifications

Hardware

The Mi 6 comes with a 5.15" touchscreen display with Full HD 1080p resolution, powered by a 3350 mAh battery. It measures 145.2 x 70.5 x 7.5 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 168.00 grams. The phone is powered by a 2.45 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with an Adreno 540 GPU. It comes with 6 GB of RAM and has an internal storage of 64 or 128 GB. The dual rear cameras on the Mi 6 are 12 megapixel shooters with 2x optical lossless zoom and 4-axis OIS and are capable of recording videos in 4K resolution. The phone also has an 8MP front-facing camera. Sensors on the phone include a front-mounted fingerprint reader, accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, compass, and barometer.[4]

Software

The Xiaomi Mi 6 ships with MIUI 8.0 running on top of Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It will be one of the first-wave devices to receive the MIUI 9.0 update.[5]

Release

The Xiaomi Mi 6 was unveiled on April 19, 2017 and launched on April 28, 2017 with prices starting at CNY 2,499 for the 64 GB base version.[6]

Reception

The Xiaomi Mi 6 received mostly positive reviews. Joshua Vergara of AndroidAuthority said it isn’t perfect, but the Xiaomi Mi 6 managed to bring together a ton of features he loved from the Mi 5 into one cohesive, affordable package that warranted some attention. However, he criticized the lack of a headphone jack and pointed out that MIUI may not be suited for everyone.[7]
