Permcat Category:Content management systems. At least a template is due here. Possibly able to support a category. Category to be built only if 60 articles found. Dawynn (talk) 15:03, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

I submitted two templates at WP:AFC yesterday, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Template:Old West-book-stub and Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Template:Old West-geo-stub, but was told to submit them here. I think they qualify under the second clause for "speedy creation" as a sub-category of Category:United States history stubs (see {{US-hist-book-stub}}). The vast majority of articles in Category:American Old West stubs are currently either books or historical locations. 72.74.206.120 (talk) 10:50, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

The geo stub cat would not be a good idea and given the fact that the parent only contains 47 articles I would have to say no to the book stub as well. Waacstats (talk) 21:31, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
I agree. Certainly geo-stubs only use current locations, so they should be in whichever state or subdivision of state that is appropriate, with any "Old West-stub" (how did it slip through with a non-standard name?) as a secondary stub type. In any case "the vast majority" is of a very small category. Soince the standard size of thinking about splitting a category into subtypes is around 800 stubs, there's no point whatsoever at present of even considering other templates - and when we do, they should be at names in line with the naming conventions for stub templates. Grutness...wha? 22:33, 15 February 2011 (UTC)
Agreed with Big G. Aelfthrytha (talk) 02:43, 16 February 2011 (UTC)

{{USSR-mil-ship-stub}} template

{{Software-dev-stub}} template

Upmerge template for Category:Software stubs. Some articles belonging in software development are misclassified in Category:Software engineering stubs, a more specific category, and I can't fix them now without losing specificity. (Main category is Category:Software development.) --Pnm (talk) 21:14, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

good idea, just not sure about whether to go with -dev- or -development- , dev could have other meanings. Waacstats (talk) 15:59, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Support either suffix...perhaps "development" would be better. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:20, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Needs clarification. I'm a computer programmer, and I'm even having trouble working out the fine line between {{software-dev-stub}}, {{compu-prog-stub}}, and {{software-eng-stub}}. OK, maybe software engineering is more of the higher-level concepts. But where do we draw a line between computer programming and software development? Please define how this new template would be used, and how its use would be distinctly different than {{compu-prog-stub}}. Dawynn (talk) 15:22, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
Add {{programming-software-stub}} to the list of fairly similar categories. Although this one is specific to software used in programming. (But libraries are covered under {{compu-library-stub}}) Dawynn (talk) 11:48, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
The hierarchy is like this:
Examples:
In some individual cases the distinction may fall apart. Articles can go in more than one if it's really necessary. When specific subcategories are created, placement becomes more clear. I'm trying to fill out the bottom of the hierarchy so articles like Bus factor, Custom software development, and Point release can accurately be placed. They aren't part of software engineering. --Pnm (talk) 23:51, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

{{GUI-stub}} template

{{File-format-stub}} template

Upmerge template for overpopulated Category:Computing stubs. --Pnm (talk) 21:14, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

another good idea for a template that will hopefully help to cut down its overpopulated parent. Waacstats (talk) 16:01, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Support --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 22:20, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
Tentative support -- I would start by adding such articles to Category:Software type stubs. Although there may be some use in subcategorizing out the file formats, this category was where I was dumping file formats when I was sorting these guys in the past. Dawynn (talk) 15:26, 16 February 2011 (UTC)
I don't mind if this is an upmerge template for Category:Software type stubs instead of Category:Computing stubs. However I don't feel quite right saying Archive file is "an article related to a type of software." The difference between software and a file format is obscure to some readers, and this inaccuracy would further confuse them. --Pnm (talk) 00:20, 19 February 2011 (UTC)

Not enough for a full category, but it would help to break down Category:Canadian artist stubs. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 18:29, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
