Please extend the south end of the red line (all the way on the left) to the Be'er Sheva stations - see http://www.rail.co.il/HE/Tickets/Map/Pages/map.aspx (the map itself is also in English). עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 08:00, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

I thought this ought to be easy, but it isn't. I found the section of code that contains the string "Be'er Sheva", and tried modifying it to move the station name; this had no effect. Then I tried deleting it; this also had no effect. The station names as seen are created by something other than the code containing the station names. How, and why, people create SVG files like this is beyond me. Maproom (talk) 21:33, 1 October 2015 (UTC)
The problem is that all texts in this SVG file are converted to path (which we strongly oppose), the original English texts are otherwise hidden with "display:none". Frankly I would rather make this from scratch because the file contains several redundancies which prevents other editors to revise. But the original author "Dream out loud" is still active, so it would be nicer to contact him. The system itself is very straightforward and I can redraw the whole thing in compact SVG format very fast. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk · contri.) 11:41, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
Most maps I've dealt with have the text converted into paths because the fonts don't render correctly on the site, and can often be moved out of place and cause overlapping and other issues. There's no reason to remake the file from scratch, all that needs to be done is to have the red line extended with the text boxes moved. I'll try to get around to updating it this week. –Dream out loud (talk) 14:42, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
This help page section has advice on avoiding the problem with fonts not rendering correctly. Maproom (talk) 14:55, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
Actually I'm already working on one with searchable Hebrew text. I do that because I understand you are not fully aware of the capability of SVG font handling on Wikimedia. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk · contri.) 15:33, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

 Done. -- Sameboat - 同舟 (talk · contri.) 17:51, 2 October 2015 (UTC)

Ambassador Bridge Map request

Request
I am requesting a new map detailing the location of the Amabassador Bridge. The current map is unsatisfactory because it is largely based on a map of Michigan. I request that a new map be made that is more 'zoomed' in so that it includes more of Ontario and better reflects the nature of the bridge as bordering two countries.

Thank you - A Canadian Toker (talk) 22:31, 9 December 2014 (UTC)

@ACanadianToker: Can you take a look at this site, which provides free license maps? Here is is zoomed in on the bridge. You can pan out to get the detail you want, then down load the map as .png. That would be an easy way. You could also look around at maps of other bridges, such as Brooklyn Bridge to get a better sense of the design you would like. Do you want details of city streets, or just gray scale, or colors for Canada and Michigan? Maybe ask this at the article talk page to get consensus? Gaff (talk) 19:40, 6 January 2015 (UTC)
@Gaff: Hello, I tried to edit the map in OSM but was unable to change anything. I have this picture, which I think is most appropriate. Ideally a map would be like this, in colors for Michigan and Ontario With Detroit and Windsor both listed. As for streets I think they could be left off. I appreciate your help, Gaff.

I'm going to let somebody else take this on, because they will do a better job faster than I can do it. I'm still too much a novice to do this well enough. Sorry. Gaff (talk) 04:27, 13 January 2015 (UTC)

{YO|Gaff}} No problem, its obviously beyond my abilities as well. Cheers, - A Canadian Toker (talk) 18:08, 16 January 2015 (UTC)
@ACanadianToker: I do belive I can help you out on this but I need some more information, and you will have to ping me as the watch doesn't work all the time.
Do you want a map holding the area your OSM includes?
You have to explain or draw so that I understand the different areas?
Do you not want any streets?
Didn't you want the bridge to be zoomed in on, how? --Goran tek-en (talk) 18:39, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
@Goran tek-en: Hello, I think that the level of zoom in the OSM picture I made is adequate. Right now the picture shows more of the state of Michigan than anything, and a new map should better reflect that it is on the border of Michigan and Ontario. As for roads I would think that less is more, perhaps only the major highways (401 in Ontario, Interstate highways in Michigan). I hope I made that more clear, if not please let me know. Thank you for your efforts. - A Canadian Toker (talk) 22:31, 26 August 2015 (UTC)

@ACanadianToker: Now there is a draft to look at and give me feedback on. I put in an enlarged piece but if you don't like it I will remove it. Do you want the bridge it self to be marked in any special way, and if so have you got an idea. Give me feedback on this draft, thanks. --Goran tek-en (talk) 19:30, 6 September 2015 (UTC) @Goran tek-en: Hello, your draft looks excellent. A huge improvement on what was there. Are there any steps required to finalize it before I put it in the article? Thank you for your efforts, - A Canadian Toker (talk) 20:39, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

@ACanadianToker: Yes, I will need the following from you;
  • Name of the file
  • Description
  • Category/ies at commons
to be able to upload it at commons. After that I will give you the link here, thanks. --Goran tek-en (talk) 16:32, 2 October 2015 (UTC)
@Goran tek-en:
  • Ambassador_Bridge_Detroit_Windsor
  • "Map of Detroit-Windsor Area with the bridge indicating that displays part of Michigan and part of Ontario"
  • Maps, border crossings, Bridges
Please let me know if this is what you are looking for. Thank you Again, - A Canadian Toker (talk) 20:46, 6 October 2015 (UTC)

Now you can find it here, Ambassador Bridge Detroit Windsor. I couldn't find the category "Border crossings" at commons. --Goran tek-en (talk) 19:02, 16 October 2015 (UTC)  Done
