Covertone81 (talk) 19:03, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Covertone81: no Declined This is an obvious attempt to promote a political candidate ahead of an election. Besides that, you don't make a case for notability. Too many of your sources are neither independent nor reliable. Chris Troutman (talk) 23:09, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

23:59:17, 26 September 2014 review of submission by 69.86.78.136

I am interested to know why my article was rejected. 69.86.78.136 (talk) 23:59, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@69.86.78.136: "Personal knowledge" isn't a source. Wikipedia requires published independent reliable sources like newspapers, books, and magazines. Some websites may be used but many won't help you make a claim of notability. Chris Troutman (talk) 00:45, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

00:33:05, 27 September 2014 review of submission by DeadStrikesBack

DeadStrikesBack (talk) 00:33, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

How do I change the title?

The title at User:DeadStrikesBack/sandbox is the last thing to be concerned about. The draft needs substantial improvement to be acceptable at all. It does not pass WP:BIO at present, and seems unlikely to do so in the future. Fiddle Faddle 08:49, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Im trying to write this article and add pictures so it can be uploaded. Why was my draft declined?

Hello there, can you assist and advise why my page creation was declined? It will help me learn what are the requirements. Thank you.

Hi Bjgevans. The reasons for the draft being declined are given on the draft itself, at User:Bjgevans/sandbox. Please click on the links in the decline message for more information. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 10:13, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

18:47:11, 27 September 2014 review of submission by Proportions

Need help clearing this error message: "This sandbox is in the Draft namespace. Either move this page into your userspace, or remove the User sandbox template." I would like to remove the User sandbox template from the pending Draft:Continuous_Proportion such that the sandbox is returned to my userspace and the submission remains in the Draft namespace (pending review since Aug). I would like to know the procedure so that I can take care of it myself going forward. Thanks, Proportions Proportions (talk) 18:47, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not worry. It is an aggravating foible and has been dealt with. If you want to see how, please look at the history tab on the draft and compare the version before my edit with my edit. Fiddle Faddle 21:52, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

18:52:58, 27 September 2014 review of submission by Crossford

I noticed that the island identified on the map in the Wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tortuga_Island,_Haiti has been wrongly identified as Tortuga Island. The marker on the map is actually on Ile de la Gonave. Tortuga Island is off the northwest of Haiti, in the position I gave. I am 100% certain of my facts, and cannot understand why you have rejected my submission, especially as I also indicated that verification that I am correct is so easily obtained on Google Earth. Are you rejecting my submission because you think I am wrong? Or is there some other reason? Crossford (talk) 18:52, 27 September 2014 (UTC) Crossford (talk) 18:52, 27 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

00:17:43, 28 September 2014 review of submission by Jones.ben1977

I submitted an article about stand up comedian Steve Simeone and was declined by MatthewVanitas for "You must show that Simeone is extensively written about by media or academia". Can someone please explain what I need to include in the article that will satisfy this requirement? i.e more information? more external links?

Many Thanks

Jones.ben1977 (talk) 00:17, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Because IMDB is not considered a reliable source, your draft currently only has one single independent reliable source, the SanDiego.com one. In accordance with Wikipedia:VRS, it needs a lot more than that. Inline citations are more useful than external links, especially for articles about living people. You can see how to add inline citations at Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners.
You could look at a recognised Wikipedia Good Article about a comedian, for example Seth MacFarlane, to see how references for a biography can be presented. However, your draft does not need to be that long to be accepted! Arthur goes shopping (talk) 06:48, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request on 08:18:01, 28 September 2014 for assistance on AfC submission by Kishor kashikar

Hello there my friend, I was written one line " Kishor kashikar is an Indian chemical engineer, etc " but this was rejected, I want to know why, and if help me how to correct it so that it can be accepted.

Kishor kashikar (talk) 08:18, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Go to the rejected daft and read the answer which was there for you already. Note that autoboographies are discouraged. See WP:AUTOBIOGRAPHY and consider: If this is all you have to say about yourself, it is inevitable that an article will be rejected. Fiddle Faddle 08:52, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Questions:

1. Can I link music/video files to all her catalog as its available free of cost.

2. I need help in the reference and cited area. I get this "This article includes a list of references, related reading or external links, but its sources remain unclear because it lacks inline citations. Please improve this article by introducing more precise citations." I have cited allot whats the difference to a inline reference and a cited link? I located the source. Created a permanent archive of the link and created a citation to each. Like so:

Evil Beaver Band member Laura Ann [1]

I need to know why the articled keeps getting assigned a second namespace set to Evil_Beaver_(2): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Evil_Beaver_(2) I edit and use Evil_Beaver: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evil_Beaver Since it is the correct link and unused. The 2 versions is confusing to me?

Generally speaking: I have put allot of time into collecting everything noteworthy on the band. Just trying to fit everything I find interesting into the article without overstatement. The bands legit and connected to many in the industry and tours the world every year. I hope you all will help me better finalize the writing.

I could literally write a lot about her in the article panning many tones and things I find interesting. I think articles should allow the perceptive of the writer along with cited information as telling readers a more interesting story. Some of the greatest story's in music history about the biggest bands and artists have no real tangible evidence to prove them, and many are fictitious. But there is 1000's of foot of copy space typed in 1000's of publications.

I like that WIKIPEDIA strives for articles with a balanced non biased content. I have the parts to the article I just ask for help in more how to present this band as being sent to a band page of others as reference help tells me very little other than a format. The writing I see more a story in the writers words and cites to any stated claim made. I am getting feedback that sounds like it should just be a compilation of blurbs from industry noted sources and a cite to a link where the blurb originates??? Help is appreciated as I really think the band is noteworthy, influential, with ties to a whole lot of very good bands and music. I want to present a nice article and learn how to write one. I am very interested in doing this more and appreciate anyone willing to give me more insight in writing. I want write about allot of these unknown bands and artists that are connected and share a large part in shaping the few. I think many top bands and artists giving credit to other famous bands says nothing real about them. Its just a thing to say and I am a music fan I can hear the influence. But most given time to really breath life into what they are made up of is of other artists along the way most not famous at all. Once I get the writing done I am having a friend edit all the grammar or punctuation errors.

Cheers! Scottsdesk (talk) 17:51, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I hope I can answer this.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evil_Beaver is a main namespace page, an article, that has been created and deleted multiple times. You can see th elist in a pink box if you click the link. I cannot see the deleted text, though an admin can, so I cannot tell you if there are any similarities with the one you are working on.
I think, from what you have said, that you are working on Draft:Evil Beaver, which is a draft article, and is, so far, unsubmitted for review. I see your name as one of the editors in the edit history.
There is also Draft:Evil Beaver (2), which is a version you have put a lot of work into, judging by the edit history. This one has been submitted for review. There is a technical obstacle. The target pagen Evil Beaver (ignore the (2)) has this status: ""'This page is protected from creation, so only administrators can create it." That is fine, a reviewer can assist with that once the article is accepted.
What I suggest that you do is to continue to improve Draft:Evil Beaver (2) while you wait for a review, safe in the knowledge that a reviewer will use the correct name, and that they will handle the protection issue once they accept it. I would review it myself, but I have poor competence with music articles. I;d prefer a reviewer who specialises in music to review it.
Our role as reviewers is to seek to ensure that an article will not immediately be subject to one of our deletion processes when it is accepted. That is why we push it back to the author. We want to accept articles. Fiddle Faddle 19:53, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I answered some of it! The banner about lack of footnotes I have removed. It was a hangover form history. I shall not be greedy. I shall leave the other questions for others to answer. Fiddle Faddle 20:08, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings,

Please tell me, should you accept my Wikipedia submission, who owns the copyright? I would like to share my Wikipedia submission with the Rocky Mountain Map Society and they may wish to upload it to their website. But I will not do so if this would create a conflict on your end.

Many thanks.

The Sayyid Ahsanullah Qadri hole discussion from 24 Setemper 2014.

The Sayyid Ahsanullah Qadri article page has been deleted, It is a genuine article it will not be deleted. Sayyid Ahsanullah Qadri is a Writer or Author and also he was published many articles and book namely "Padmashri Sayyid Ahmedullah Qadri ki Tahqiqui, Sahafati, Siasi aur Samaji Qidmat 1909 to 1985” the news was published in Siasat Daily Urdu Newsparper[1] why your admin deletion the article i don't no. • The article

The very first thing I have to recommend that you do is to read our conflict of interest policy, specifically the parts which strongly militate against starting an article about yourself. We're not a social networking site on which anybody is entitled to keep a profile; we're an encyclopedia with inclusion and content standards that your article, as written, was not meeting:

  1. The writing tone was significantly advertising-oriented rather than encyclopedic.
  2. A lot of the referencing you added was to invalid and unreliable sources — for example, you cannot "reference" content on Wikipedia to other Wikipedia articles, to Mashpedia, to speedydeletion.wikia.com, to Facebook posts or to YouTube videos.
  3. And finally, the article as written was devoting far more time and space to biographical sketches of your grandfather, your father and your kids than it was to explaining why you might belong in an encyclopedia. Your relatives aren't the topic of the article — so the article shouldn't spend more time talking about them than it does about you (that's what we call a WP:COATRACK.)

This doesn't mean that you can never qualify for an article on here — it just means you're not entitled to keep that version as written and sourced. If it's really that important to you to have an article on here, you can always try the WP:AFC process so that you're getting feedback along the way about the improvements that are or aren't necessary to make it keepable — but the article has to follow our rules to be kept on here. The language that valid newspaper sources are written in isn't a problem — as long as we have somebody around here who can read the language that the sources are in, sources in any language are acceptable as long as they're valid and reliable ones — but you have to avoid sourcing to the types of references I listed above in point #2. Hope that helps a bit. Bearcat (talk) 16:12, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As per your suggestion, rules and regulations. I'll insert the same plz upload back my article, so I will change it (thanks)(talk) 16:12, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Question

I open the article here, but my article not get back, so what can i do to get back my article plz helpme out, or ""I reopen my article plz suggest me or guide me"".

Last two weeks back my article was deleted due to above resons, as per admin suggested for remove such reference, (A lot of the referencing you added was to invalid and unreliable sources — for example, you cannot "reference" content on Wikipedia to other Wikipedia articles, to Mashpedia, to speedydeletion.wikia.com, to Facebook posts or to YouTube videos) I deleted in Sayyid Ahsanullah Qadri/Sandbox my sandbox also not opening after that. How can get article back, plz suggest and guide me, or create myself again ? It is a genuine article Plz help me out.13:38, 27 September 2014 CutestPenguinHangout(UTC)Sayyid Ahsanullah Qadri (talk) 06:47, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article was deleted on 24 September by Bearcat. Please ask them if they are willing to restore it to the Draft: namespace for you, or to your own user space.
There is no need to use {{Helpme}} on this page, by the way, but it is not a problem if you do. Fiddle Faddle 08:20, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The user, for the record, created two simultaneous versions of the article, one at the title "Sayyid Ahsanullah Qadri" and one at the title "Sayyid Ahsanullah Qadri/sandbox". The first one was deleted, but the second one was moved back into his userspace as a sandbox page — so the page in question is already in the editor's userspace, and no new action is required here. Bearcat (talk) 16:43, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I am grateful to Bearcat for this information and hope that Sayyid Ahsanullah Qadri is making valuable progress on the item. Fiddle Faddle 21:00, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

10:53:07, 29 September 2014 review of submission by Rgrogers42

My page purechannelapps was deleted by RHaworth. This page should not have been speedily deleted because I simply followed wiki examples at other tech companies like Marketo, MarkLogic and Hearsay Social. According to section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, "an article about a company or a product which describes its subject from a neutral point of view does not qualify for this criterion." The page reads from a neutral perspective, simply drawing all the main company facts from cited material.

Rgrogers42 (talk) 10:53, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Rgrogers42: You can't point to other Wikipedia articles as an example. Much of the content on Wikipedia is problematic at best. I'm not sure why Mjs1991 accepted your draft in the first place and since the article has been deleted, I can't see it for myself. You can always ask for your article to be returned as a draft so you can improve it. A cursory search doesn't reveal any reliable coverage of the subject, so I don't think it's worth your time to pursue it. Wikipedia is not here for advertising, anyway. Chris Troutman (talk) 17:51, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Mjs1991: can you provide any feedback as to what happened here? You shouldn't be accepting drafts that meet speedy deletion criteria. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 19:30, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Demiurge1000: As far as I can remember, the article was an easily notable company. Rgrogers42 had included good references. So I don't understand why the article was deleted.--Mjs1991 (talk) 14:54, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@RHaworth: Could you help explain this deletion? Chris Troutman (talk) 03:33, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Restored. If it is fit for mainspace, someone other than Mjs1991 to take that decision. Rgrogers42, kindly have the decency to wait until someone with no COI thinks your company is notable and writes about it here. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 08:27, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

18:05:57, 29 September 2014 review of submission by Edendiss

My page "learning at home and in the hospital" has been deleted for violating copyright. The terms I wrote there are definitions. As such, there is no point in restructuring the phrases in order to mean the same. Definitions are definitons for being what they are. I just can't imagine how to recreate those 2-3 sentences to keep the exact same meaning but with different words, this is just a pointless thing to ask. I ask you to re-review it with keeping in mind that those are definitions. Edendiss (talk) 18:05, 29 September 2014 (UTC)edendiss Edendiss (talk) 18:05, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violation is an absolute no go area. What you need to do is to use the source you copied as a reference, in this case even if it is not a WP:RS. Read WP:PRIMARY and you will understand how limited use of primary sources may be made. But no-one will re-review a draft that is a copyright violation. Your own words are required. Fiddle Faddle 20:56, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Timtrent, thanks for your reply! I still need advice on what you mean "use the source as a reference". I put that website I used among references, is that what you mean? I read that wp:primary section you recommended, but it didn't give me a clue about HOW to do what you advised.

the other thing, a general queston about violating copyright: When I reformulated the phrases, it still denied to upload it, so I don't know what to do when you want "my own words". How much of the content can be formed the same way as it was in another website (which is among the references)? Do I have to find completelly different grammatical solutions, too, or is it enough to replace the words with synonimes? Since I am not a native English speaker, this is quite a problem, recreating an existing perfect text to keep the exact same meaning. How deeply do I have to do it? And again, what happens if any wikipedia content is further used later in any website we create later? thanks Edendiss (talk) 14:16, 30 September 2014 (UTC)Edendiss[reply]

The reuse aspect is easy. Wikipedia material may, with correct attribution, be reused anywhere.
Being a non native speaker is a difficult thing, and I understand your difficulty with re-wording and keeping the same sense. I cannot solve your challenge, but others may be able to. I suggest you ask at the online chat service (linked from the decline notice on your talk page, I think) and work out a solution
Those were the "easy" parts to answer. The other element is more complex. Let me try to do it in an abstract manner. Let me assume that the text in the website you wish to quote says "this long piece of text that I am using as an example, even though it is not long at all", and that you wish to use it to show a point in your article text. I am going say that your article text that you wish to use is "This is the article text and it has within it this long piece of text that I am using as an example, even though it is not long at all"
That would be a copyright violation if the text were truly long, not a short snippet. What I suggest you do is to use it as a reference. I would format it thus:
This is the article text, and I am referencing it[1]"

References

  1. ^ this long piece of text that I am using as an example, even though it is not long at all'
The text above looks like this:
This is the article text, and I am referencing it<ref>this long piece of text that I am using as an example, even though it is not long at all</ref>
My example is imperfect. It requires use within the <ref></ref>pair of templates such at {{cite web}}. Other editors here will have better ways of explaining this, and I ask them to join in answering you. Reading WP:CITE will help you Fiddle Faddle 14:55, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Needed to know what was wrong with my article. I know I have not done the references yet, but please advise. Doris E Brown 18:11, 29 September 2014 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dorisebrown (talkcontribs)

There are a number of issues with your draft, including lack of references, and a very promotional tone.
However, the biggest issue is that we already have an article about this company: Alcoa Tenn Federal Credit Union. You can work to improve this existing article, but be advised most of what you have in your draft cannot yet be used because it lacks references, and has an inappropriately promotional tone. 18:16:49, 29 September 2014 review of draft by WillySchmidtHild

Hello everybody, I need some help! I edited this page: Wilhelm schmidthild And as you can see it should be written: Wilhelm Schmidthild capital "S"

Can anyone delete the old page und change it into Wilhelm Schmidthild? That would be perfect!

I am German and I already made a German article about Schmidthild who is one of my ancistors. This article is interesting für English speakers because my grandfather sold a hugh number of paintings to US soldiers in the 1940s. We guess a lot of people have pictures of him hanging on the wall and don't know where the paintings are from...

regards, and thank you for the assistance.

WillySchmidtHild (talk) 18:16, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Willy, for future reference please don't make huge moves like copy-pasting huge pieces of text, or blanking pages, etc. without asking for help first, as it's easy to make mistakes that take a little time to untangle. I've put your mis-published draft Wilhelm schmidthild up for deletion since you blanked the text, so let's just focus on Draft:Wilhelm_Schmidthild.
Here's the main issue: your personal research into your ancestor is not admissible. Only facts which have been published in recognized sources are admissible, otherwise people could just make up anything and claim they researched it. So while it might be okay to link to your personal family page, you cannot cite it as an authority. That being the case, please look at WP:Notability (artists), and that explains the kind of sourcing you must have if this article is to be published. Please read that policy, and ensure you have citations to books, academic journals, etc. which discuss Schmidthild and his career, impact, etc. That is required to publish the draft.
Again, definitely read WP:Notability (artists) and that will make our requirements very clear and easy. MatthewVanitas (talk) 18:56, 29 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The coverage is certainly about the subject and independent of him, though one invites sponsorship. I am unable to judge whether the BMG is WP:RS, but I would use these as citations for relevant facts in the draft. I would not wish them to be my sole source of referencing, though. Fiddle Faddle 10:03, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Helen7274: I've had a look at your draft in some detail, now. I've left a couple of detailed comments on it which I hope you will find of use. There is work required, but most of the work in the draft is done. We are at the editing stage, something that almost always means the pruning of material. The gentleman appears to be to be inherently notable, so this is simply a substantial tidying exercise. You can do this and enjoy it. Fiddle Faddle 12:00, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
If the person is notable and there are (as implied) no copyright violations or similar, then I will approve it. Helen, please resubmit it.
Helen, you may also wish to improve the formatting of the references, which right now are a godawful mess and sea of blue. Please see WP:REFB. --Demiurge1000 (talk) 00:36, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I posted a page called PTM TECHNOLOGY that was denied publication. Apparently the reason was "promotional material". However I researched similar content in Wikipedia and followed the same pattern as in other companies so now I have no clue about the whys and hows of the refusal. I'd appreciate some help regarding the content to revise. Thanks

Handlingequipment (talk) 08:13, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you examine Draft:PTM Technology you will see that your presumed reason is not the reason I declined it. PLease look carefully at the real reason and work on the referencing. Your draft must pass WP:CORP to be accepted and references must be in accordance with my full comment left there.
Our role as reviewers is to seek to ensure that an article will not immediately be subject to one of our deletion processes when it is accepted. That is why we push it back to the author. We want to accept articles. Please show by your work that this one is acceptable.
Comparison with other articles is not useful. We do not use poor articles as a precedent for other articles, otherwise quality will decline rapidly and we will move to idiocracy. Fiddle Faddle 09:59, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

10:38:20, 30 September 2014 review of submission by Sandro.friedrich

Dear Sirs,

This article is about Martin Haene, who mainly works in the field of music for media (such as TV series, movies, games etc). His credits include major motion picture movies and well known TV-series; while it's true that a 'normal' consumer usually doesn't care about who did the music in e.g. a TV-series or even a major movie that is shown world-wide, it is certainly of interest for anybody who is working in the field of music composition, film making, directing or the like.

All listed credits are backed-up through IMdB, which requires proof of credit (such as cue sheets (these are spreadsheets by the production companies listing all music composers being used in a certain TV-show, movie etc), credit/name in the end credit of a movie, etc).

This is why I do not agree with Nonsenseferret's argument that the article is not relevant (see above why it is), and also that the listed credits/proof are not backed-up.

If his arguemnt of not being relevant would be true, then every topic that is not of major interest for the mainstream-consumer would be not relevant (ie every area of expertise), which of course would be completely against the idea and spirit of wikipedia itself. Also, the number of composers with major movie credits (ie movies by major studios that are distributed world-wide) is actually not that high; simply because there are not that many major movies produced each year, but way way more composers who would like to have their music in it. So if a composer has several major movie credits, this alone shows his relevance in that part of the industry IMHO.

If you should have the same opinion as Nonsenseferret then I'd like to hear a proper and factual explanation. Otherwise I would propose to let the article go online.

Thank you for your consideration; I'm looking forward to your reply.

Best,

I thought this draft was familiar. You seem to have ignored in your argument above the comment I left on the draft on 31 May, where I explain more for you. Please understand that IMDB is not a reliable source, and no amount of impassioned argument will make us believe that it ever can be. It is a user edited source, like Wikipedia and fails WP:RS.
Please go back, read my comment, and retyrn here, to this section, to ask for an expanded explanation if there are aspects of it that you still need to have clarified.
Additionally, as it stands, this is not an article, but is the framework for an article. The draft > Submit > Review > edit > resubmit > etc process is iterative. It is better to work with than against our reviewers because that means you will gain acceptance of an article if the topic passes our criteria. Our role as reviewers is to seek to ensure that an article will not immediately be subject to one of our deletion processes when it is accepted. That is why we push it back to the author. We want to accept articles. At present your draft will fail. Fiddle Faddle 11:06, 30 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

02:37:06, 1 October 2014 review of submission by Rogecr

Hi there, the first time that I submitted this article, the reviewer gave me very clear objectives to address to address for resubmission. I thought I had addressed them, but the article was rejected again, and I'm not clear why it was rejected the second time. Would you please give me some examples of what should be changed? I'm new to Wikipedia (writing, at least!) so I may just be missing something in the process. May thanks for your help!

Rogecr (talk) 02:37, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Writing in a dull enough manner for Wikipedia is a skill that takes a bit of learning. Your draft is a lovely narrative, using phraseology which is good for magazine articles. And that is great if that is the target audience. The problem with this tone is that it is easily possible to misconstrue it as promotional. I'd appreciate Cutest Penguin's thoughts here since they declined it and pushed it back to you. It is not mandatory for a reviewer to leave a comment in addition to a review, but it is preferred when things like article tone are involved.
The hints I have for you are "Dull-but worthy" is the tone we need. in our terms this is WP:NPOV. However exciting and interesting a topic is we must rely on the reader to generate their own enthusiasms from the bland text we provide. Our role as reviewers is to seek to ensure that an article will not immediately be subject to one of our deletion processes when it is accepted. That is why we push it back to the author. We want to accept articles. For me this one is borderline. CP disagrees. It is fine that we disagree, by the way. That is why many sets of eyes can be very useful on a review. Thank you for your extensive comments and helpful suggestions. It seems that I have much work to do <deep sigh>. Perhaps a good place for me to start would to dramatically reduce the article and use only facts to which I can apply secondary sources. I can then add to the article later? Your comment about most of the references referring to the works rather than the man, is valid.

Thanks also for the info regarding the formatting of the references - I know they're a '...mess and sea of blue', but didn't know how to fix that. Lots to learn!

Part of the fun of Wikipedia is learning how to do it. We try very hard to give as good a set of pointers as we can when we review drafts. Yes, cut, cut, and cut again. This is heartrending initially, but the material you have written is never lost. It remains in the article history, form where it can be scooped out and reinserted at the right time. Secondary sources are vital to acceptance. Even so, WP:PRIMARY shows you the limited ways you may deploy a primary source. Work steadily and slowly. The only deadline is the one you set for yourself. Think always "How does this look for me as a reader?" but do not prettify for the sake of prettification. Above all, expect the next submission to be pushed back for work, too. The process is iterative. Just continue to do your best and continue to ask for the help you need. Fiddle Faddle 09:30, 1 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You probably mean an infobox, such as {{Infobox Company}}, bit you need to look, first, at the quality of your article, which I view as promotional and to read WP:CORP which I view this as failing. You see to have a conflict of interest. This is heavily deprecated in the main name space (articles) but is tolerated in the WP:AFC process. The article YuuPay Secure Pte Ltd is potentially going to be deleted. You either need to improve it significantly and fast in order to save it or to start again using WP:AFC. 06:04:37, 2 October 2014 review of submission by Helen7274

Hi - thanks again, Fiddle Faddle for your encouraging words. I am slowly working through the biography and have found what I THINK are valid and reliable secondary sources. I THINK (but am not sure)that I have done the citations properly. However, I also acknowledge that there is a way (yet to be discovered by me) to to add superscripts to a reference that I use more than once. So, for example, I have used the same reference three times, and each appears with a different number in my reference list, instead of, for example, 2 a b c etc. I don't know if this is the correct place for me to ask someone to check just the first 10 or so citations/references, and to let me know whether these are acceptable sources. Part of the problem, however, is that most are not available online, which makes it difficult for you to confirm!

Please note that I have nowhere near completed the biography and there are errors in it. thank you helen Helen7274 (talk) 06:04, 2 October 2014 (UTC) Helen7274 (talk) 06:04, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Helen. In general we would consider a published magazine or newspaper to be a reliable source. However, particularly as these are offline sources, it is often useful to provide rather more detail than you have. For example regarding the Blue Mountains Gazette, you could provide the title of the article concerned. Even more so, a reference that only says "The North Shore Advocate, 1983" is not really sufficient for someone to identify and find the source even if they wanted to. Is there an issue number or an author or an article title?
For using the same reference more than once for different statements, please take a look at Wikipedia:Named references. Arthur goes shopping (talk) 08:30, 2 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I need help regarding adding external link to my (draft) pages. If I add the official video link to the (draft) pages [(I am a Man), Full episode, verified], is it consider as promotional or as informative? Since I'm doing for first time, I'm still not sure yet. Kingsho (talk) 13:39, 3 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you are writing a draft of an article about a talk show, it is entirely reasonable to list the show's main website as an external link. And indeed, you already seem to have linked to its YouTube channel. However, the show's own website or video uploads are not independent of the show, and therefore are of little or no use for proving its notability so that Wikipedia can have an article about it. For this, independent sources are required. Such sources might for example be a review article about the show in a newspaper or a serious magazine that have no connection with the show or its producers.
