Explanation of page move

This talk page was renamed and restored. Shikai_shaw created a redirect from the talk page for Ryūkyū Province to a talk page for Ryūkyū Domain. This change was reverted -- see User talk:Shikai shaw#Ryūkyū merge.

There are now two articles and each has its own talk page.

If a merge is proposed, I guess that others will join me in opposing it. --Ansei (talk) 16:50, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The reasonable invitation for discussion and consensus-building here is married with another redirect here. In this context, the disputed page move is not good.

Perhaps a third opinion will help to make this clearer? This small difference of opinion was added to a list of problems here. --Ansei (talk) 16:56, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The point-of-view appears to be similar to the diff by PoohPooh817 here:

At this point, are the edit histories lost or conflated? Does it matter? --Ansei (talk) 20:26, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Further research reveals that Ryūkyū Province is explicitly recognized in treaties in 1894 (a) between Japan and the US and (b) between Japan and the UK -- see US Department of State. (1906). A digest of international law as embodied in diplomatic discussions, treaties and other international agreements (John Bassett Moore, ed.), Vol. 5, p. 759. --Ansei (talk) 00:57, 21 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Unjustified blanking

Shinkai Shaw's edit of Ryūkyū Province here was characterized by Bennilsque here as "unjustified blanking." In the context established by the discussion above and the cite-supported changes that were made to this article, I think that is a fair summary. --Ansei (talk) 23:01, 12 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
