This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Jtmorgan (talk | contribs) at 01:24, 19 May 2012 (updated instructions re: automatic updating by HostBot). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Usage

I enabled a new front page feature which loads recent questions into the "recent questions" box on the front page of the Teahouse automatically. It switches every time the page is re-cached on the server, which means that it won't show a new guest every time you hit the 'refresh'. For that reason, I included a little '...see another question' link below the featured guest box. When you click that, it will show a new one. Otherwise, I think it will show a new one when you re-open your browser and/or when a little time has passed (hard to get a straight answer on this from the documentation.)

Anyway, just another way to make our pages a little more dynamic!

Hostbot will update this list of recent questions with new ones on a weekly basis. Currently, the updates are scheduled on Saturday morning at 1AM PST.

Folks, I've found 2 references to the same primary source in 2 different sections of the same wp article. Those references were numbered automatically. How does one go about "merging" those 2, so that the reference only appears once? I don't know if I've made myself clear. The same primary source is listed as references 26 AND 47. How can the article be changed so that there is only 1 reference, say 26, while changing the superscripted 47 to 26 in the text? Thanks, DennisPietras (talk) 02:31, 8 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone know how long it takes for google or bing to index a new wiki page? Are wiki pages given some automatic preference in terms of being at the top of search results or is it totally based on clicks? I noticed a certain article was number 1 on bing but only number 7 or 8 on google does this mean bing gives preference or is it just based on clicks?
