Review of Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Content Central

Hi

I m just wondering why the sources are not 1) reliable and 2) independent? Both the references are from independent sources .

Thanks Roystonea (talk) 11:46, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Roystonea,
I checked your article and fixed one of your cites to a better page.  You are correct the first 3 sources appear to be good.  If anything, your article is leaning toward an advertisement.  I compared your article to similar in the category.  Your article is better than some and worse than others.  All things considered, I don't see a good reason not to approve it.  Thanks.  :- ) DCS 15:05, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but how did it happen? The only usable source is Yahoo news (speculation, lack of depth) (sorry, it's press release), with all the rest being either completely obscure or known malicious sources. If not me, then someone else will bring this to AfD and it will get deleted right away. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 17:45, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
@ Dimitri, Reviewers at AfC look over a huge range of subjects, we are not subject matter experts and cannot to be expected to interrogate WP:RSN every time we review a submission. In the case of this article, sources 1 and 3 look OK to me. The rest are either primary, unreliable or of dubious provenance. Personally I work to a value of three, in-depth, reliable, independent sources, before I approve (exceptions apply). I don't see any glaring lack of judgement in DCS's acceptance of this article; although his comparing it with other articles in the same cat was probably not the best measure of suitability, because WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS is as much a reason not to include, as it is anything else. Our rule of last resort is: 'How likely is the article to survive AfD?' If the answer is 50/50 or better, then we have no cause to decline its creation. As you seem quite knowledgeable on software matters, perhaps you would consider joining this WikiProject and donating some of your time to reviewing such submissions? We get a lot of software related submissions and specialist knowledge would be highly appreciated. Pol430 talk to me 19:38, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
From what I could tell, CMSWire and BERTL seemed like a reliable sources, am I hearing that they are not?  I saw the forth cite was from the company and the fifth was a press release, but they were not used in the article to establish notability, only features.  I looked at similar articles just to ensure that this one did not contain more feature/advertising details than is norm.  I have assumed that in AfC we have to assume some good faith in that I/we can not check every citation for reliability or even existence, especially if they are not available on the web.  And, that if a mistake is made, the experts out there will PROD the article.    :- ) DCS 22:45, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I agree, the sources to CMS Wire and CMS Critic look ok to me. Not sure about BERTL. I would probably have accepted to submission as well. I was defending your actions if anything. Pol430 talk to me 00:31, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I'm not asking for expert suggestion here. CMS critic is one-person blog proposing paid advertising articles, CMS Wire has absolutely no editorial oversight. Both issues are very easy to see just looking up About Us links if one takes time for; if not, why WP:AFC is needed at all? — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 00:46, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, this article's chances in AfD are close to zero. I would say, they approach zero from negative side of the scale, actually. Interested parties are invited to follow WP:Articles for deletion/Content Central. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 00:51, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Dimitri, thanks for your input I'm sure DCS has taken it on board, I know I have. But there is really no need for denigrating comments like "why WP:AFC is needed at all?". Pol430 talk to me 06:00, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I was a bit shocked with the replies to my query, and I overreacted. My apologies. — Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 07:23, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is English language wikipedia. There is little point publishing a tract of attic greek text that has no English language translation or explanation, because very few people here would be able to read it. Please provide a high-quality English explanation/translation to complement the original text. Until then, the submission cannot be published. Pol430 talk to me 19:48, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Note: page in question is actually Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Court Reporting Institute (2nd submission)

Hello, the feedback from the editor on our submission is that we used copyrighted information (from an article published on HighSchoolGraduate.com). But we (the Court Reporting Institute) actually wrote that article and it was published by HighSchoolGraduate.com. If you scroll to the bottom of the article on that web site you'll see that credit is given to the director of the Court Reporting Institute. So there should be no copyright issues. Thank you. Hello, it is a matter of Wikipedia policy to presume that copyright protection exists unless it is specifically disclaimed on the site that we find the matching text on. Hello,

I was wondering if someone would be able to assist me in clarifying the sections of my article that read "like an advertisement" rather than an encyclopedia. My article is Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Canadian Institute of Forestry/Institut forestier du Canada. The hope with writing this article was to allow people to search the name of this professional organization and educate themselves about its history and its membership. It is a non-profit organization designed to connect professionals of the forest industry and laypeople with an interest in the forest with one another. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you CIF-IFC (talk) 20:08, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The promotional tone of the prose is not as outrageous as some submissions I have seen, but the plethora of contact information (some of which I have removed) and the number of external links in the body text is not in-keeping with Wikipedia's policy on neutrality. Also your username is problematic (I have sent a message to your talk page to explain why). Pol430 talk to me 20:18, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I tried to enter a basic synopsis of Michael Hamill, and it was rejected siting references. Can you please look at the entry and let me know what I am doing wrong there?

Since the facts are somewhat non-verifiable except by individuals statements, can you take those.

Essentially, what, specifically, can I provide you on exactly what details to make this work?

Thanks!

Matt — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tahoe22 (talkcontribs) 21:49, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, all Wikipedia articles must be "verifiable", so those sources are an absolute must. Take a look at WP:VRS. Your article was declined because it only has one source (a good one, but only one) while still making other claims that aren't backed up. He was on a TV show/Junior Olympian? Those would help towards establishing notability a lot, as long as they have sources. And sorry, but we really just can't take anyone's word for something, for reasons I'm sure you would understand. Wikipedia must take biographies of living people, or WP:BLPs, very seriously. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 22:28, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I dont understand why my article was not published. This person is real!!! And he even is considered as a tertiary icon in China. Cmon what the hell, i cant even believe someone made a page about him yet. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123abc95 (talkcontribs) 03:48, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you, but not everyone else that reads the Wiki may.  All articles need to be backed by reliable, independent sources that discuss the subject in detail.  Find some reliable, independent articles that talk about him, and reference them.   :- ) DCS 07:09, 11 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The book may be real, but what proof do we have? I'm not trying to imply that you are lying at all, but we have to be very cold-hearted here at Wikipedia...we can't just take someone's word for it. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 23:24, 16 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As per the suggestions changes have been made to the article. Could you please suggest if the article is ready for submission?

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.66.83.253 (talk) 11:06, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the article is getting there, if you submit it for AfC, it might have a chance of getting through. However, to improve your chances, I would suggest these changes: give more details about the academic work he has done, and what significance they hold; give short details about how prestigious each award is (usually must be at a national or international level). You also said he was "elected to the status of a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association(DFAPA)", can you give in-line citation to back that up? Furthermore, rather than listing all the references at the end (what we called general references, try to incorporate them into the article (An inline citation, it means any citation added close to the material it supports, for example after the sentence or paragraph, normally in the form of a footnote.). If you are unsure, please check WP:PROF to see what editors are looking for when they accept (or decline); and also WP:CITE for citation guidelines. Thanks and good luck! My [articles for creation/Saj-nicole A. Joni] was recently declined for inadequate references, but there are no notations as to what needs to be addressed. I have read all of the manuals, and I would very much appreciate assistance on what I need to correct.

Thank you in advance for your help. Lena Goodwin (talk) 14:27, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your article only has 2 reliable references(#1 and #2) listed about your subject.  You actually have many, but they are inserted as external links.  I have converted your Wellesley College link into a citation.  If you can do that with the remaining externals, I think you may have an article.  I know the way citations are done can be confusing, see if WP:CITE is any help?  Thanks for your work.   :- ) DCS 15:23, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My submitted article has been reviewed. Unfortunately the reviewers comments are meaningless. They leave me with no clue as to how to modify the article to make it acceptable. To quote 'While the topic is probably sufficiently notable, more work has to be done on this article to bring it up to scratch'. OK fine I can accept that, nut what on earth do they mean by 'more work'? I spent a lifetime as an academic, a researcher with many, many published and reviewed articles in international academically reviewed journals. Reviews need to say WHAT is needed, I canot read the reviewers mind.

The article was based on data collected first hand and there is no-one else who has all this data. I have enough information on this subject to write a very long book so I am more than happy to revise the copy. LynnashLynnash (talk) 14:34, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Lynnash! I understand your frustration, the reviewer should have been more clear. However, Wikipedia is not a platform to house primary research (WP:FORUM) and so must be cited to reliable and independent sources (WP:CITE). It might be notable, but the notability needs to displayed to other people reading the Wikipedia also. If you can find some references that are notable in themselves (such as a prominent newspaper or magazine), then please use in-line citation (WP:CITE) to reference. Good luck! Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 15:27, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have a record cover that I'd like to reference. There is a summery/description of the quartet on the back, and I'm wondering what I would use to cite it. Should I use article format, as it does give an author? AlexGraal (talk) 14:48, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've deleted one of the general references because it is just a repeat of the in-line citation. As to the record cover, is it produced from a notable record label? I wouldn't use articles, as that implies either journal articles or newspaper article. There isn't really a format for citing record descriptions, but if it is notable, then I would use the format here:
<ref>(name of the record), (record label). Author ((year))</ref>
Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 15:20, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is a very notable record label. Thank you very much :) — Preceding unsigned comment added by AlexGraal (talkcontribs) 15:33, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I want to upload the official logo of IDEAS 2012 from this site: http://www.ideaspakistan.gov.pk/ideaslogo2012.htm

To the wikipedia page International Defence Exhibition and Seminar.

The source of the picture infers that the picture is free for use: the website actually gives you an option to download the logo. However other than that I can't see any explicit permission that we can use the picture after downloading. Nor do I know what the License would be.

What steps should I take, as i believe its the most appropriate picture availiable.

Thanks --MMChampion (talk) 15:49, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you would be able to use it. Even if it is copyrighted, you are allowed to use it under Fair use. But before doing so, please ensure there are no other free alternatives. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Logos#Uploading_non-free_logos and WP:NFCC. The template I'd recommend is {{non-free logo}}. Good luck! Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 16:19, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Another step is to go to Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard and follow the wizard. Click on the "This is a copyrighted, non-free work, but I believe it is Fair Use." option - your image is a business/organization logo, so free alternatives probably don't exist. Hi,

My submission was rejected because it said it violated copywrite from this page:

http://www.mohegansun.com/sitelet/winefest/personalities/larry-forgione.html

I actually personally work for Larry Forgione and would like to argue that the page in question is not a copywrite material as it contains Larry Forgione's personal bio that he sends out to festivals. Therefore, it is the property of Larry Forgione and NOT the Mohegan Sun WineFest. I can alter his bio wording slightly but obviously the historical events and accomplishments are going to be exactly the same. Please advise, thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cpallas (talkcontribs) 15:57, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but when I scroll down to the bottom of the page I see this: "© 2012 Sun Winefest". As far as we are concerned, that's copyrighted material and unless Sun Winefest released to anyone under the CC-BY-SA License (which I doubt they'll do) we can't use it. Obviously you can still use that site as a source, but no, you can't copy it wholesale (or even in part/structure) - it must be completely rewritten. :( Nolelover Talk·Contribs 16:23, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Since you work for Larry Lorgione, you can ask him (or whoever responsible) to grant permission for this use. Use this format while doing so. Wikipedia:Declaration_of_consent_for_all_enquiries. Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 16:32, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

I am writing a new article about "Harris Academy Bromley" and do not understand what I do wrong. It is a school which is part of a the "Harris federation" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harris_Federation). I looked at all the other school pages on Wikipedia from this Harris Federation and I based the structure of my article on the other pages of these other Harris Federation schools (pages accepted by Wikipedia). Since the other pages have been accepted by Wikipedia, I do not understand why my article is not reliable or with the wrong references...

Please help !!

Many thanks in advance for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cyblexy (talkcontribs) 19:06, 17 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

After that use the format [[File:NAME OF YOUR IMAGE|thumb |alt=WHAT THE IMAGE IS|CAPTION TO GO ALONG WITH THE IMAGE]] to add the image to the article. the subject of my article, Rafe Hernandez, is briefly described in "Minor Characters" of Days of our Lives, but he is now a lead character, with an established family in the fictious town of Salem. I just need for it to be noted that this is not a duplicate article. Thank you! I'm new to this!! Still have to learn how to include pictures, etc.

The reviewer believes (both of them actually) that the article sounds more like an advertisement for the company rather than an enclyclopedic article. All articles must be written from a neutral point of view and I have to agree that it is a bit. Articles need to be based on verifiable fact using reliable, third party sources (see WP:42). external links should not be within the prose of the article but in an external links section at the end (and they should only be relevent, not spam/advertising link).
Take a look at WP:FIRST which has good starting steps on writing your first article. - Happysailor (Talk) 15:41, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Thanks for the explanation. I cleaned up whatever may appear / read as an advertisement so I would appreciate your review again. As for the external links, I originally just had references without relation to the prose in the article but received feedback to change this (or at least that's how I understood it). So I'm not sure how to format the references at the moment. Thanks in advance. Orit — Preceding unsigned comment added by Didiivancovsky (talkcontribs) 12:13, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

My submission of the article entitled Arpad Haraszthy has been declined because the editor, ChrisGualtieri, says he "cannot verify the sources and their content as I do not have access to said works. Otherwise I see no reason for it to be denied." I don't know how I can remedy this problem, as some of the sources are online and others are reliable, independent, published sources, with full information given as to the publishers, place of publication, and dates. Chris is right to an extent.  In these cases, if things look legitimate, we will approve the article and leave it up to the scrutiny of the Wikipedians familiar with the subject to tear it apart later if necessary.  Nice looking work.    Doing...  :- ) DCS 18:59, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah there was nothing wrong with it; just in my review I couldn't verify all the material myself. Certain instances like the Bohemian Club did have him listed as a founding member, and such things are important to be correct, other claims I could not directly prove. So rather then decline; I commented it as such for another editor to take a look at it. It was a very nicely done and detailed article. ChrisGualtieri (talk) 13:57, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I feel that whilst keeping within the guidelines of ensuring all points are backed up with valid references, the article has the points necessary for it to be posted.

Please elaborate on what you mean with regards to sufficient context, as I have based this format on other articles that I have seen on Wikipedia.

Hestiya (talk) 23:12, 18 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well done for trying to add inline citations, but you need to add <ref> to open and </ref> to close each citation. At least the article is legible now. I think the reviewer may have concerns about the notability of Randhawa and maybe believes there is not enough in-depth sources about him to support a meaningful article. Only one source (that I can see) does anything more than briefly mention him. The Financial Times article requires registration to view online so I cannot vouch what it contains. Article in question: Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/The Disappeared (2012 film)

Hi folks,

Just wondering what I'm doing wrong in creating this article. It's been rejected twice and I understood why the first time - lacking sources. I've since added several independent reliable sources that discuss the film (the subject of the article for creation) and have had it rejected a second time for the same reason. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. Could someone clarify why my sources aren't being liked?

Cheers, jcarrut

Hi - I'm having problems with getting my page approved. There is currently a worldwide backlash against Wall Street & the kind of unsustainable capitalism that led to the Sub Prime Crisis & Greek debt crisis. Companies like Capital Alternatives are doing what they can by providing alternatives. I this this is very significant - how can I get this approved?

Hello,

This is about the following article: Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Ideasthesia

I have received the following review: "This submission reads more like an essay than an encyclopedia article. Submissions should summarize information in secondary, reliable sources and not contain opinions or original research. Please write about the topic from a neutral point of view in an encyclopedic manner."

I need help understanding which part of the text seems not to follow the rules of Wikipedia. I tried to make every statement a summary of information published in reliable sources (scientific journals). All the references to these original works have been added too.

I do not see where the text reads like an essay.

Thank you very much for helping.

Regards,

Danko Nikolic

This article covers a controversial subject about a living person. Firstly, the references need to be converted into inline citations. See the help pages at WP:CITE and WP:REFB. Secondly, the article does appear to be too detailed for the number of sources listed. Be careful not to include any information that is not directly supported by reliable references. Currently, this submission is a violation of Wikipedia's BLP policy. I have not blanked the submission as there does not appear appear to be anything directly defamatory, and the submission has references, but the concerns listed above need to be addressed. Thank so much for reviewing my article and providing feedback. I'd really appreciate some specifics regarding my article, which was rejected due to an "advertisement" tone and a dearth of neutral references. I'm not really sure where to start or where the real problem areas are. I suspect that the reviewer of my article saw Florida State University as too close to the research center my article addresses for it to be a reliable resource. Is there a substantial amount of content salvageable in my article for a resubmission? Thank you for your time. --Aca10c (talk) 15:50, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The section headings for your article is not really suitable for a Wikipedia; esp. 'Centre goals' 'Research Project and Grants' 'Public Events' 'Publications' and 'Staff'. An encyclopedia is based upon facts which will last, and generally worth noting. You may have to rewrite it to something like the tone of "This centre offers multiple grants to students, these include...." But don't make it too long, maybe just a sentence or two. Public events, unless it is annual or similar, and is notable, should not be included. Staff, unless it is absolutely necessary or the person made a notable contribution in the centre's history, should not be included (important people can go inside infoboxes). Please see WP:INDISCRIMINATE for more information. Kinkreet~♥moshi moshi♥~ 16:45, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

May I ask why the page for Center for Visual Science was denied due to notability issues while this other page was approved? Thanks. Speterson cvs (talk) 17:02, 19 March 2012 (UTC)Speterson_cvs[reply]

The other page was not 'approved' it was created, off the cuff, by another editor. It seems to me that page is unambiguously promotional. I have tagged it for deletion accordingly. Your submission lacks enough coverage in multiple, independent, reliable sources to be accepted. See WP:VRS. Pol430 talk to me 17:33, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am writing to inquire why my article is still not acceptable. For my discipline, getting into the Dictionary of Literary Biography is the same as having arrived. Creating a Spanish version of my job's Wikipedia page

Hello,

I work for the Center for International Media Ethics, which has English and French Wikipedia pages. I am supposed to create a Spanish version of the page as well, but I'm confused about how to do it. I created a draft-- Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Centro Internacional de Ética en los Medios de Comunicación -- but I think it was in the English Wikipedia so it was not approved. If you could help me make my draft a Spanish version of CIME's page, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Hello. This is my second denial for this article, and I would like to clarify the terms of the denial and what I can do to rectify it. The reviewer made mention of secondary sources as opposed to primary sources/original research, a neutral point of view (which I was under the impression I had maintained), and writing in an encyclopedic manner. I would like to ask which of my sources in particular are not acceptable and what I can do to make the narrative less "essay like".

Hi, the main problem with this submission is that it writes about the school in a manner that promotes it. I have highlighted some problematic sentences but there are more. Wikipedia require that all article maintain a neutral point of view. Also, the external links should be removed from the body text and re-formatted as citations, or just removed; I have highlighted one example. Another issue is that I found one sentence "Waldorf teachers strive to transform education into an art that educates the whole child- the heart, head and hands." that is directly copied from the schools website, be careful to avoid that, as it is considered a copyright violation. I could not find any other such examples, but I only made a cursory check of the submission. Finally, the notability of the school is not clear, please see WP:VRS. I hope that has helped? The whole first part of this article that would go to demonstrate Twomey's notability---her recognition in the broader community, her awards, and her general contribution to the field-- is unsourced. The only part of the article that is reliably sourced is Twomey's specific works which is insufficient to establish notability. I would recommend going back through the article--especially the first half which is entirely unsourced--and adding citations to ensure that the information is not deleted in the future. Dalisays (talk) 21:19, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Joey,

I have taken your comments seriously and have revised this piece several times to reflect a neutral point of view. (The only specific suggestion was to remove the list of services so that it wouldn't read like an advertisement. I did this and also removed all other text references that could be construed as promotional rather than fact-based.)

I also triple checked references to ensure that they are independent, reliable published sources. Finally, to reinforce Hyatt Legal Plans' notability, I added related facts about its parent organization, MetLife, which is a publically traded, Fortune 500 company.

One of the new references is Joel Hyatt's Wikipedia article, which supports that fact that Hyatt Legal Plans is the largest group legal provider in the country. Other notable companies in this space, ARAG Group and Legal Shield, both have Wikipedia articles, despite the fact that their North American footprints are much smaller than Hyatt's.

However, despite following all the suggestions, the article was rejected for a third time. (It appears that the same rejection notice continues to be posted without acknowledgement of my edits.) I would greatly appreciate if you could point to the specific items that do not meet Wikipedia's editorial requirements.

Thanks very much.

The majority of the article is still unsourced, or sourced to primary, non-independent sources - for example Wikipedia is a user edited encyclopedia so cannot be used as a source (the article you cite is also unsourced!); Section 2 is partly cited to a press release on BusinessWire (therefore primary, non-independent source). I tend to agree that the article is largely unverifiable and reads like an advert for Hyatt Legal Plans and their services. You need to identify reliable, independent and in-depth coverage to support the information about HLP, before we can accept the article. Sionk (talk) 15:06, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Query on Revisions that ahve been made to Rejected Draft of Article on Edward Margolies

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Edward Margolies

I have added footnotes, citations and an explanation of why Mr. Margolies is notable, particularly his important role in the 1960s as a literary critic who explored the work of long neglected African-American writers and introduced them to the general public (see cited review as well as references to Margolies's work in leading U.S. newspapers and magazines). Is this the kind of information the editor was looking for when he commented on my initial draft? Any other suggestions would be welcomed. Hoping that this worthwhile addition to Wikipedia will be deemed acceptable. Thanks for your help and feedback. Thecobbrooklyn (talk) 17:49, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, it appears that the only references in the submission are citations to Margolies' own works. In order to demonstrate notability, the submission requires references to reliable, independent sources that give him significant coverage. Pol430 talk to me 23:51, 20 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

I'm trying to get an article published Wikipedia talk:Articles for Creation/EFILM and was told by two editors that my submission wasn't "adequately supported by reliable, independent sources." I provided a listing of feature film titles from IMdb, hoping that would suffice, but it's apparently not enough. Did I not cite them properly? If not, could you advise on how I should? Also, there are no additional sources for the rest of the information in the article. All of it - save for the feature film titles - is listed only on the EFILM website: www.efilm.com. Please advise me on what my next steps should be.

Thanks much! JeremyJeremymonsayac (talk) 00:09, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The citation is correct in a technical sense, but IMDb is not considered a source that helps to establish the subjects notability. You can use it as a basic fact reference, but because profiles are easy to get and make, they don't establish importance as far as we are concerned. The EFILM website is another that can be used to cite facts, but because it is a primary source it, again, doesn't help to establish notability. Now, as stated by the reviewer, all articles must be backed up by multiple reliable, independent sources so your next step should be a search for those. Has this company been mentioned in articles about the movies they've worked in? Have they been profiled in magazines or newspapers? Those are generally what you are looking for. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 02:20, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'll like to know why the sources in this article are not considered verifiable? The sources used were extracted from published articles in national newspapers (in this case, Singapore & Brunei). Prasad certainly appears to be notable, however there aren't enough sources to back up and verify everything you say. For example, you say that he was "Head of Engineering College, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati", but there aren't any sources to back it up. If you can source some of his jobs and work, I believe this would be easily acceptable. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 19:21, 21 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

This is the second time this page was rejected and I am puzzled as to the reason why. I have come across the pages below that have more or the same information as is in the page I have created. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Modulate

If these pages are different or follow the "acceptable" guidelines, can you please explain what it is so I have a better understanding and be able to fix this. The page I have created I feel is acceptable and is no different than these pages.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/And_One http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grendel_(band) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alien_Vampires http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Everything_Goes_Cold http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zombie_Girl http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SITD http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nachtmahr http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System_Syn http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God_Module http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caustic_(band)

All the information is verifiable with the sources for this type of music as many of the references on all these are the same as in the one I created. In fairness if the page I created is being rejected for lack of information it would be only be fair for these pages to be deleted due to lack of information on theirs.

Thank you.

First of all, each article is judged on its own merits so the existence of similar articles does not, unfortunately, make your submission any more or less likely to be accepted. However, I do think this guy might be notable but since I am on a tablet atm I can't do a full source check etc. Nolelover Talk·Contribs 03:20, 22 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I understand the reason for the rejection. Unfortunately, there is no source available online to prove that he was the Head of the Electrical Engineering part of the Venkateswara University. I have contacted the University officials to provide me with offical information on the Head of College alumni list. But this may be a paper link. How can I use this link? I would think my existing sources are good enough to prove that the person is notable.

You have to understand that most Indian universities do not yet post content online. This is an example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kailasa_Venkata_Ramiah. Kailasa Venkata Ramiah article has no sources (not even one) but it is known in the Andhra region that he was an educationalist. Same with this person.

I have also posted links to aggregations of his research output as well as citation indices of his output. Further the new and local engineering college which he headed has his name shown on a document as the Director.

What more kind of sources will Wikipedia need? The only other source I can add is to prove that he was a Humdoldt Fellow. By the way, since he was a Humboldt Fellow, this page has to be added to the list of Alexander von Homboldt Fellows which now has 27 alumni listed (will become 28 with new addition). Thanks a lot!
