Merge all tables in one spreadsheet

Merge Tables

Yes, in general I agree that one table makes it easier to track all the info on each product, rather than shifting up and down the page to see what it does on other criteria. Flagrantly inaccurate!

Since when does iTunes allow extraction of music from the iPod? The whole point of the "sync to iPod system" is to try to enslave the iPod to iTunes, and to prohibit the copying of tracks from one computer to another via iPod. Since version 7.0. It only works for extracting FairPlay purchased songs from an iPod onto the PC/Mac, and you must then authorize that computer with iTMS as one of the 5 machines that are allowed to share a single iTMS user account. Any non-purchased songs will be wiped from the iPod, and the iPod will thenceforth be synchronized with the new computer's library instead of its original computer. Foreign characters?

Why is there no information on foreign character support? From this discussion, I can see that such a column was included at some point but was removed and I cannot find it by sifting through the history. Why ON EARTH would you remove such an important fact, even if the information was incomplete, and why was it not restored???

Linux?

Extract foreign (russian) titles

Why is there a whole column for "Extract foreign (russian) titles"? What's so special about Russian as opposed to Japanese, Chinese, Arabic...? Henry ^Flower 22:08, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Russian text is all I've tested any of them with. I'm not sure if other languages would be supported so thats all I can say for sure. What do you mean by extract? Do you mean display? In this case, iTunes since version 6.0 if not earlier has been able to display my Russian songs as well as some random Norwegian songs. Am I misunderstanding the column?

Suggestions

The name of the different columns are not very intuitive. For example, what does "Import into iTunes" mean? or "Extract Music"? Either renaming, or providing a more thorough description below somewhere would be helpful. Also, what does it mean if a box is just white? Unknown? I think that could be indicated somewhere as well.

Windows versions

The Windows table would be much more usefull if it listed which win versions the various programs support. People wanting support for say win98 (which apple itunes does not offer) should not be forced to research each program separately to try to find a possibly useful one. -69.87.204.122 23:33, 9 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

DRM'd/Protected AAC music files & videos?

Why not have a column that indicates which players will sync the iTunes Store user keys to the iPod, thus making it possible to play music and videos purchased through the iTunes Store?

Yeah it could happen, sorta. Anyone worth his spit in music and computer industry will know there are better stores out there, in terms of respecting freedom and music quality. Ha, well you could try for a few more years. There won't be one any time soon, because Apple doesn't want to give away the only thing that keeps people addicted to the iTunes Store. It's a control aspect, and it's immoral and should be illegal, but it is legal because they put it in their terms of use and terms of service. Sync library database with filesystem

If you move or delete any files on disk - software like MediaMonkey or Winamp will automatically track changes, removing orphaned files from database and updating file locations. iTunes is a media manager, the idea is that you use iTunes to manage your media. Delete a file within iTunes and it will ask if you want to delete the actual file. Please stop trying to insert your personal gripes into Wikipedia. AlistairMcMillan (talk) 19:07, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Include new column to indicate iPod format (Windows or Mac)

I recently started having issues with whether my iPods were formatted Mac or Windows (that is, the HD/Memory inside the iPod). Some software will only work with one or the other. In exploring some of these SW apps, I found that EphPod only works with Windows formatted and it suggests converting your Mac formatted to Win in order to use it. I am not sure if this difference is still case with newest gen of Flash memory iPods, but the difference is definitely important on the slightly older ('middle-aged') HD iPods that I have ; Beginnersview (talk) 03:46, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Apple Are Excluding 'Us'

Songbird is missing!

There is one cross-platform manager missing.

It has compatibility with all but the iPod Touch and iPhone.

A few things about changing the ?'s to Yes's on the Media organization and transfer features:

Copy Smart Playlists- i assume its Genius, in that case, yes Copy DRM free music and videos- yep, its on there can go from one to another

Program automatically downloads!

When I clicked reference #2, "^ "Import iPod Music from iPod to iTunes, create library backup". WindSolutions. Retrieved 2010-04-20," the link took me to a page that automatically downloaded the CopyTrans program! I was stunned -- am sure this violates Wikipedia policy, although I can't find a specific reference (unless the program is malware -- I certainly hope it isn't). I've deleted the reference, as well as reference #1, which also linked to an automatic-download page. Additionally, I've started a discussion of this incident on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
