Aaron Davey Edits

In the hope? Thing is what happens if no one decides too?. Atleast look over his stats or converse with someone, google him, view demon message boards. How hard would it be too search for some info and atleast construct a few sentences for the years ??

How is "Australian football" ambiguous?
When said in the sentence:

Because you changed it from premier Australian rules football league to premier Australian football league in the country, which makes it appear as if there are other leagues (situated somewhere else in the world) that are more premier than the AFL. Also the game is consistently called "Australian rules football", not "Australian football". Jenks24 (talk) 12:19, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

But I always call the game "Australian football" or "football" never "Australian rules football". Besides the official name of the game is Australian football and the common name for it is football, not Australian rules football. I always call the game "footy", but that doesn't mean it's appropriate on an encyclopedia. The official name of the game is Australian rules football (as shown by the name of the page) and the first sentence of the AFL page reads "The Australian Football League (AFL) is the governing body, and the top tier professional competition in the sport of Australian rules football." Also nearly every page on an AFL player will say they are an "Australian rules footballer", because there are many different codes called football played in Australia. Yeah, I agree that's what its official name may be, but my point was that throughout Wikipedia its called "Australian rules football" so I thought it should be called that for consistency and to help international readers unfimiliar with the game understand. Retirement

As of 18 August, 2010, I will leave forever. It seems I am being bullied on here. After all the work I have done with no credit at all. I will not put up with this no longer. No help from admins, just wanting to block me, why don't you "help" me instead of "picking" on me? I made my mide up basically after I was blocked last time, I almost left but didn't and came back for week and now I am being treated like a person who came out of jail. I'm only aloud to make an edit to page a day, if I am being treated that way it is pointless to return. After 1 year, 5 months, 27 days, "goodbye". Please leave a goodbye message on discussions page if you please. GuineaPigWarrior Forever!

Coleman Medallists

Could you please correct the info boxes for VFL seasons 1897 - 1954 ? There was no Coleman Medal awarded for those years. It was retrospectively awarded for each season in July 2004 and is known as the Leading Goalkicker Medal. Thanks. RossRSmith (talk) 00:35, 19 September 2010 (UTC)

Skeletons...

I noticed that you blitzed the list of Wikipedia:WikiProject Sports/Skeleton racers unreferenced BLPs the other day. Thank you very much for your help. I've help setup and track all of these lists, and I was wondering if anyone else actually looked at them or used them. If you want to do any more, Wikipedia:WikiProject Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons/WikiProjects lists them all, and I've also made lists by topic - sports and games, regional and political, music and everything else (Art, Entertainment, Religion, Science etc), as well as the jumbo WPBio taskforce listed here. Templates

I think WP:NAVI is quite clear that there must be a clear justification for the use of non-standard colours. In these instances, the only reason the colours are being used is because they vaguely match the kit colours of the team. In my opinion, that is hardly a valid reason to introduce non standard colours. The whole reason for using standard colours is that when we start mixing new, untested colours, we create potential problems for people with visual problems. Personally I find that the random colour schemes just look a mess. We do not lend undue weight to anything, and so there is no reason to colour code AFL team infoboxes but not others. If we were to start encouraging such colour-coding, then every sports team, band, musician, politician etc etc would have their own differently coloured infobox or template. While this may look pretty, it certainly would not look professional or neutral. So I don't think any colour scheme should be applied, and I see no reason why a compromise colour scheme needs to be used. I have taken a quick look around a few articles and found that the use of such colours is far more widespread than I had thought. For instance, all the Premier League clubs seem to have "colourful" nav boxes, so perhaps your compromise colour code may be a good idea after all... Nouse4aname (talk) 17:18, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Dash vs negative sign

Xeno; I refactored your diff to use {{diff}}; I encourage its use, along with {{oldid}} to avoid flipping users to or from the secure server. That results in lots of revealed IPs ;). I just had a look at MOS:DASH again and, as far as I can tell, they were originally hypens eg - and the script actually changed them to minus signs eg − which is what they now are. I'm sure you're aware that there are millions of hyphens in use out there in lieu of proper minus character entities. Hey. Just wanted to apologize for yesterday. Saw the tags being changed and couldn't figure it out since there were no citations, or external links in a few of them (later noticed them in the infoboxes). Not sure why that set me off, but it did; I think I saw it as a cheap why to get the unreferenced count down, because I'm willing to bet that if this backlog's clear, the other ones will just be ignored, and those articles will just sit there without improvements yet again. After reading your comments several times, you seem to say I asked them to support. No I didn't, I asked them to add their comments, which could have been delete or keep. I don't really care if the race is deleted or not, but per the reason it is notable. I also know where most of the sources are. Ask the other editors inwhich if I told them to do anything. Remove their votes, if you'd like, remove mine too if you want. I now that I didn't mean to do anything there. Ok, first off, I'm not saying the article shouldn't be kept. I haven't had a close look, but on the surface of things, it appears that it probably should. Secondly, I apologise if I came across a bit harsh. Also, I didn't notice that Wayne Slam was a member of WP:NASCAR and that he had edited the article before. That is definitely my fault. While I'm 100% sure you placed the note in good faith (and I'm sorry if it didn't come off like that in my note on the AfD), it has resulted in three editors coming to the discussion, all of whom !voted keep (the same view you had expressed) and two simply !voting "per Nascar1996". I now see that I was mistaken and I was not meaning to imply that the wording of your your note was not neutral. I will strike my comments at the AfD as I see that I definitely jumped to conclusions. Its okay, it happens, but next time you may consider looking at the receiver of the message first and see if they have edited the article or something. They said 'per Nascar1996' probably because where I am the editor who now create the articles, such as one of my creations is 2010 Ford 400, and I have a similar level of expertise in that subject. Furthermore, I know where most of the references could be, which I found the main ones. I could expand it to a similar size as the link given in this message, which has a change for good article criteria, so I wouldn't say as of now it needs deleted. Which as I said in a previous message, I'm not really caring about the article. If I have time I may be able to expand the article, but it isn't looking too good. Ok, I've fixed up the hatnote on Jack Mack, after looking through the Max Carl article. To be completely honest though, it was pretty difficult to find that Carl was known as Jack Mack, only that he played with Jack Mack and the Heart Attack (and there was no indication that he was the "Jack Mack" of the band). Ah, I'm assuming you are User:Uperesa Elisara Fakava. Yes, I did propose the article for deletion because it was a biography of a living person that did not reference any reliable sources and yes, I did notify you about that. However, that was not why the article was deleted. User:NawlinWiki, who I still think you should take this up with, deleted the article under A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion because the article had "no explanation of the subject's significance". I cannot see the article, as it is now deleted, but I can tell you that it was deleted twice more, one of those times for being a hoax. I'm afraid I can't help you any further and advise you to bring this up with the deleting admin, User:NawlinWiki, if you seriously think that the article should not have been deleted. Categories

Hey. With someone like Neitz I'd give him two categories, one for Tasmania and one for Victoria. I've had to do that with a few others too, like Nick Riewoldt who spent his early childhood in Tassie before moving to the Gold Coast. He seems to be considered both a Tasmanian and Queenslander. I created the NT and ACT categories just now so they're ready to be populated. Only reason I didn't create them with the others was because I was unsure of the wording needed. Cheers. Great Southern FL

I reversed your move because it blocks the probability of the creation of an article for the GSFL in Western Australia. Just because there isn't an article yet, doesn't make the disambiguation unneccessary. It can cause confusion for new readers looking for the league in WA and finding the SA league, which is what they don't want to read. Footy Freak7 (talk) 00:40, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your attention to this subject, and for getting in touch. I know Barry personally, which is how I knew his place of birth, but I do not have a reference for this information. Hey, here's another I just came across: The Pro-Wailing Wall Committee. That sounds like a wall committee that's in favor of wailing, when in fact they're a committee for the Wailing Wall. AFL Infobox

Is it just my computer, or does the AFL infobox suddenly look different (narrower)? On the Ilija Grgic article for example, regardless or how large I have my browser, the Coast from West Coast appears under the West and Goals under Games etc. It's probably just something wrong on my end because the infobox hasn't been edited since 3 Feb but just thought I would check? Hmmm. I just had a look around the wiki help pages and one guy complained that said some navboxes have suddenly changed. The explanation was that the default infobox width was reduced in this edit at MediaWiki:Common.css. I'd presume that is the reason so we'll probably have to adjust our infobox somehow. You any good at this kind of stuff? The two guys who usually edit the AFL infobox don't appear to be active anymore so it may be best to just to ask someone at the Village pump to help out. Want to really test WP:NSPORTS?

I was a bit disappointed that the Ron Ainsworth RL AfD was closed by a non-admin, would have been good to get a decent precedent (I know OTHERSTUFFEXISTS etc), but from Roisterers latest list of debuts, this Redlink jumped out at me for some reason, and he'd be the ultimate test of WP:NSPORTS! There is a bit of info online about him, being elevated, delisted, playing at lower levels, but his (lack of) performance at AFL level is almost too tempting to pass up! Hah, just looked him up and noticed that he had a grand total of zero possessions at AFL level :) But in answer to your question, yes I definitely think we could get him to DYK (and hopefully not get taken to AfD on the main page). Haha thanks :) I was thinking about DYK, but I couldn't really think of a good hook, as I couldn't find any reference that actually said something like he was the only player never to have AFL possession. Thanks for telling me, I have seen the "1","2" things etc and I thought that might be the reason you deleted it, no proof. I tried to find the article from the local paper where i read it from but it isn't on the internet. But yeah it is true and thanks for the help, im a n00b on here.
