Suggested improvements for Konica_Minolta.svg

Article(s): Konica Minolta

Request: The image is the wrong shade of blue (compare to images at http://www.konicaminolta-images.eu/images/list/category/Marketing__Logos__Konica%20Minolta/), and the "light beam" lines should be made white rather than transparent - as when the logo is placed over a non-white background, the intention is for these to remain white, as according to the official Konica Minolta logo rules. Sadly, while I have this document, I just checked and it's marked as internal to the company, so I can't provide it as reference... A good example of the logo over a non-white background can be seen on product brochures such as this one: http://kmbs.konicaminolta.us/main/content/products/attachments/productdocs/bizhub_C203_C253_C353_brochure_V3.pdf (PDF sorry...).

I'd do it myself, but sorry to say I'm really not a graphics kind of guy and my attempts fell short of anything that I'd consider usable... YttriumOx (talk) 13:03, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s):

  • Another junk logo from Brands of the World. Surprise Surprise. Anyway, that PDF only contains a raster image of the logo. Do you know of any PDF that may contain a vector version of the logo so we can extract it from an official source? -Andrew c [talk] 13:59, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I took a "flat" version of the logo from a random official source and added an equal-sized white ellipse behind the symbol mark. The shaded version of the logo does not seem to be used in a vectorized form, at least in the PDFs, unfortunately. Is this good enough? —Quibik (talk) 16:59, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Steam engine animation

Article(s): Steam engine

Request: Make an animation of the steam engine. The animation should show the different engine strokes; not sure how this is with a steam engine (with a internal combustion engine, every intake/outlet of gas, and the ignition, ... is shown; perhaps it's best to only have 2 strokes here; ie right to left piston stroke and left to right piston stroke. A similar rotary steam engine ("steam turbine") would also be created afterwards, this too can be made into an animation. KVDP (talk) 14:26, 12 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Article(s): Iranian reform movement

Request: clear background, svgify... Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 02:36, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like the sides are cut off, BTW. Kaldari (talk) 04:24, 9 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It looks that way to me, too. Perhaps whoever takes the request can make a cut and an uncut variant, and we can decide then what to do. --Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 03:20, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s): I've got a problem with the source of this image. On the image page it says "The logo may be obtained from Iranian reform movement.", but I looked on their website and I can't find it, and looking for "Iranian reform" (or "Iranian reform movement") and "logo" or "flag" doesn't get me any pictures of this logo. Is it really official? --Slashme (talk) 17:19, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The primary author of the article is the uploader of the image, which he uploaded once before. He said then it was his logo, I assume good faith since he seems to know what he's talking about. That being said, I can't read it. --Chris (クリス • フィッチュ) (talk) 04:21, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

But how do we know that it's the official logo? --Slashme (talk) 18:23, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Graphist opinion(s): Upload the crop to a new filename. /94.193.242.248 (talk) 00:56, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Done: I've cropped and auto-balanced it in GIMP. It came out surprisingly well...except for the bottom center of the page. If you need more like these, let me know. If you'd like to know how to do the auto options in GIMP yourself, feel free to ask. Hope this helps.Smallman12q (talk) 01:53, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please note I used the jpg image rather than the tiff image...but the quality shouldn't be visibly affected.Smallman12q (talk) 01:57, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
These are really nice - thanks so much. Given that the printer was apparently quite good at his work, I'm not surprised they turned out so well. Which do you think best reflects the original? Truthkeeper88 (talk) 02:47, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure...looking at some of his other pictures such as this one, I'd say color enhance, but looking at this one, I'd say equalize...depends on how dark it was supposed to be.Smallman12q (talk) 11:04, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
On second thought, I've made this File:Randolph Caldecott collection-page 0072-crop-balance-equalize.jpg from the tiff and it looks best equalized, so I'd say equalized.Smallman12q (talk) 11:18, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The faces seem a bit unnatural though...so its entirely up to you ^.^ Smallman12q (talk) 11:30, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
These are all beautiful. Thanks for taking the time. I have to do some more research and compare to others, but I think any of them will do. I have one more from that article, that's very yellowed, to be cleaned up, but am too busy to submit at the moment. Look for it in the future. Truthkeeper88 (talk) 16:22, 16 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It looks too tightly cropped on the left side. Kaldari (talk) 05:50, 28 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, i wondered about that too, should be a bit better now. Maybe someone will want to put a bit more work into it (the simple gradient doesn't look too beautiful either), maybe I will, just not right now. Completefailure (talk) 20:33, 29 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request: The circles with the numbers ought to be made larger (say, twice as large as now), because they are not very easy to read except at relatively large sizes. Also, it'd be nice if the lines connecting 7, 8, and 9 with the parts they illustrate were (say) white with a thin black border (or vice versa), rather than solid black; that would make the line of 8 more easily visible at small sizes.
