You can edit other people's work, they will edit yours. If your edits are undone, don't take offense - it is just part of the wiki process. Here are some tips that will help when doing basic editing on Wikipedia:
Do's

- Use the Help desk for problems or even uncertainties
- Fill in the edit-summary box when making an edit
- Communicate on a talk page about changes, concerns or contentions
Don'ts

- Stress too much about formatting at first, focus on getting the information clear, neutral and sourced
- Use multiple user accounts
- Edit war, like reverting others edits over and over - instead use the talk page
- Add anything you didn't personally write yourself (copyright is important!)
