Founded in 1998, Design of Systems on Silicon S.A. (DS2), is a leading supplier of silicon and software for Power line Communications (PLC) and the first company to develop and market PLC chipsets delivering data rates of up to 200 Mbit/s.

Standards

DS2 develops products compliant with the 200 Mbit/s specification developed by the Universal Powerline Association (UPA).

On Dec 2008, DS2 announced plans to develop the DSS9960 chip, which will be a dual-mode device interoperable both with the ITU-T G.hn standard and with the UPA specification[1].

G.hn is the first international standard that provides a way to create a high-speed (up to 1 Gigabit/s)[2] Local area network using existing home wiring (power lines, phone lines and coaxial cables). G.hn is promoted by HomeGrid Forum and supported by a number of home networking organizations such as (CEPCA, HomePNA and the Universal Powerline Association).[3][4][5]
