Simple username changes

This page hosts simple requests for a username change across the Wikimedia network. Requests are processed by stewards and global renamers.

Instructions
  1. Read Wikipedia:Changing username carefully. You must be aware of and understand all the implications of changing your username. Specifically:
    • Your name will be changed to the new one in the page history of every page you've edited, and in all log entries.
    • Your user pages, account preferences, and edits will be moved to the new name. Please do not create a new account or attempt to move them yourself.
    • Links left by your previous signatures will still point to the old userpage; however, a redirect will be created pointing to your new userpage.
    • Understand that using your real name as your username may put you at risk of harassment.
  2. Read the username policy and ensure your new name does not violate it. Usernames must not:
  3. Check that your new username is not already in use by searching for it on Special:CentralAuth. If the name is registered, even on another Wikimedia project, it is taken.
If the target name hasn't made any edits to any Wikimedia project, you may request usurpation at meta:Steward requests/Username changes.
  4. Log in with your current username. Requests will not be approved if the requester is not logged in.
  5. Place your request here.
    • Add your desired username after NEW=.
    • Add a reason for the change after REASON=. Requests without a valid reason will not be approved.
    • Do not change anything else.
  6. Select Publish changes.
  7. Check back on this page periodically to answer any inquiries regarding your request. Consider watching the page so you can monitor updates. Requests may be closed if there are unresolved queries.

Requests that do not follow these instructions or that are grossly malformed are subject to removal.

For stewards, global renamers, and clerks

Only stewards and global renamers have the authority to approve or decline requests. Requests are automatically clerked by a bot, but occasionally human intervention is required, particularly for malformed requests. If you would like to help out with clerking, please see Wikipedia:Changing username/Assistance.

Anneuy → NEW

NimaTheGrateful → NimaSepassi

Alikuosullivan → Square132

Javier.darsie → Bicho.Bolita

Bureaucrat note: There are accounts by the name of Bicho.Bolita on it.wiki and de.wiki. Are those accounts yours? bibliomaniac15 05:34, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Whuber → William Huber

Clerk note: The requested username is already registered; see Special:CentralAuth. Please choose another name which is not already in use. Matt (Talk) 05:42, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Matt. It looks like the William Huber account has no email address connected to it, nor any edits or posts at all; it does seem like it's been abandoned completely before every being used.Whuber (talk) 17:21, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Usurping (taking over an account that's registered, but hasn't been used - what you're talking about) is carried out at WP:USURP, however requests are generally not completed if the user requesting the usurp hasn't been on Wikipedia for several months. So if you want you can wait until you're eligible to usurp the name, or change to a name that isn't in use here. Regards, Matt (Talk) 02:59, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Matt, there's no harm in making the request and leaving the bureaucrats to decide, though. It's up to you, Whuber. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 06:56, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not done The name William Huber (talk · contribs) is already taken. As the account has no edits, it can be usurped; to do so, place a request at Wikipedia:Changing username/Usurpations. Kingturtle (talk) 18:15, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

MusiccircusMelodytent → South Shore Music Circus

 Not done Usernames shouldn't be promotional. EVula // talk // // 22:31, 6 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You can create articles that are different to your username though, see the responses to your question at the Help Desk here. Matt (Talk) 02:55, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure that's the point; seems to me to be fairly obvious that this user has a POV or COI and is here to promote something. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 13:12, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Horseusa → Violent Crime Impact Teams

Not done Usernames should not be based on groups. EVula // talk // // 20:31, 7 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sfett → SFETT

 Not done per above. bibliomaniac15 04:35, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Frankski → Frank Ski

Bureaucrat note: Frank, what are your intentions with your account? Are you here to help Wikipedia or here to promote yourself? Please read Wikipedia is not the place to post your résumé, NOTWEBHOST and Conflict of interest. You are welcome to use your real name here, but you mustn't make edits that promote yourself or your company. Kingturtle (talk) 17:51, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Uuddlrlrba → DanielChoe

Clerk note: User "DanielChoe" is not registered. Please see WP:CHU instead. ClueBot VI (talk) 04:37, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Moved. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 09:20, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Bureaucrat note: Uuddlrlrba, what are your reasons? If DanielChoe is your real name, do you understand the potential dangers of using it on Wikipedia? Kingturtle (talk) 17:53, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RotzKotz_ere → Kissaki0

 Done Kingturtle (talk) 17:56, 8 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
