Adrian Anthony (Adrian) Madaschi (born July 11 1982) in Perth, Australia is an Australian Football (Soccer) player of Italian descent. He is a Defender who's position is Centre Back and can also play Full Back. He currently plays for Portosummaga in Italy's Serie C2/B.
Club Career
Madaschi left Perth Italia to join Italian side Atalanta's youth team at the age of 15 in 1998. He qualified for an Italian passport, due to his Italian heritage on both his grandparents' side. Madaschi was part of the Atalanta youth side that won back to back Primavera Coppa Italia (Italian Youth Cups) in 1999-00 and 2000-01. He was loaned out to Monza in 2001, but that did not workout [1]. Adrian constantly made first team squads at Atalanta, but could never break into the then Serie A team. He was again loaned out by Atalanta to Pistoiese for the 2002-03 season. But again, did not see much first team action. Atalanta released Madaschi on August 2003.
On December 2003, Adrian Madaschi signed for Partick Thistle in the Scottish Premier League[2]. Unfortunately, Partick were relegated that season, down to the Scottish First Division. Madaschi though got regular First Team Football, playing 24 matches for 2 goals in his debut Scottish season in the SPL and 27 appearances and 2 goals in the following season in the First Division. Unfortunately, Partick were relegated for the 2nd successive time, this time down to the Scottish 2nd Division. Madaschi left the club in May 2005, to join Dundee for the 2005-06 First Division season[3]. Adrian had to leave the club on November 2005 though, due to requiring an operation on his ankle, back in Australia[4].
Madaschi returned to Italy to join Grosseto for the 2005-06 season. He then joined his current club, Portosummaga in the 2006-07 season [5].
In March 2008, it's been rumoured after spending his entire senior football career overseas so far, that Madaschi will return to Australia, to play with the Newcastle Jets of the A-League[6].
International Career
Madaschi was centre back for the Joeys at the 1999 FIFA U-17 World Cup in New Zealand where Australia lost on penalties to Brazil in the final, to finish runner up for the tournament.
He also started all 4 games in defence for the Young Socceroos played at the 2001 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.
In 2004, Adrian was in the centre of defence for the The 'Olyroos' (The Australian Olympic Football Team) at [[1]].
Earlier that year in May and June of 2004, Adrian Madaschi was capped 4 times for the Socceroos during the Second Stage of Qualifiers for the 2006 World Cup. He scored 2 goals, as part of a 6-1 victory over Fiji, in his 2nd match for Australia [7].
