Mac OS X v10.6, possibly codenamed "Cougar" or "Lynx", is rumored to be the next operating system from Apple Inc., following Mac OS X v10.5, "Leopard".[1]. Some estimate it is to be released in 2009. It is speculated to possibly be named either "Cougar" or "Lynx", as both names were also trademarked by Apple Inc. at the same time as "Leopard" and "Tiger".[2]
