NEW NOMINATIONS

Category:Expanding the Minority Languages across the 19 State of Northern Nigeria

Nominator's rationale: The name of the just-created category doesn't connote any kind of category, and I don't even understand what it means. It's possible that the title could be changed to "Minority languages of Northern Nigeria", but it isn't clear that that's defining for any language. I don't know that much about Nigeria, but it seems like an arbitrary classification. I suspect that if I looked at any of the articles that the creator has added to it, they won't make a point of noting whether they're a minority language in Northern Nigeria. Hence, the category will fail WP:V and won't be applicable. Largoplazo (talk) 15:49, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The category should be renamed to "Minority languages of Nigeria" because there are small languages in Nigeria that has only page in English Wikipedia not available in Nigeria local Wikipedia Fulani215 (talk) 15:57, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename, i support that Category:Expanding the Minority Languages across the 19 State of Northern Nigeria should be rename so that it will be valid and be used for other edit like translation to other language wikipedia.

Category:People from Boye County

Nominator's rationale: "People from X" category, newly created for just one person. As always, every geographic entity that exists does not automatically get one of these the moment one person from that place has an article to file in it -- there would need to be several people from that place to file in the category before it was justifiable, and for just one person we leave them in the next higher-level entity until there are more.
As I'm not an expert on China, I'm also willing to withdraw this if somebody with more knowledge in the matter can find four or five other people to populate this with -- but it doesn't aid navigation of the Wikipedia to obsessively microcategorize everything down to the narrowest possible categories with just one article in them, so if he's the only person who can be filed here then he has to stay at the Hebei level until the Boye County level has more than just one person in it. Category:Pages with Battle Honours

Nominator's rationale: This appears to be an attempt at a template tracking category, but it is not set up properly, and it doesn't appear as if it would be useful even if it were. Mclay1 (talk) 14:36, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Catholic schools in the Republic of Ireland

Nominator's rationale: All other Roman Catholic schools categories were moved from "Roman Catholic" to just "Catholic". This is the only case where Roman Catholic is a subcategory of Catholic, which is unnecessary, particularly because the Catholic category only contains subcategories for Roman Catholic schools (per their descriptions). The Roman Catholic category is older so its page history should be kept. Mclay1 (talk) 14:05, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Songs written by Ian Kirkpatrick (record producer)

Nominator's rationale: It would be better to match the category name with the current name of the article which is Ian Kirkpatrick (music producer). UnilandofmaTalk 10:55, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Song recordings produced by Ian Kirkpatrick (record producer)

Nominator's rationale: Better to match with the current name of the article which is Ian Kirkpatrick (music producer) UnilandofmaTalk 10:53, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Law enforcement agencies of the Dutch East Indies

Nominator's rationale: There's nothing in this category except for a single subcategory, Category:Intelligence agencies of the Dutch East Indies. None of the articles in the subcategory really appear to fit (it's for ordinary police agencies, not entities like the Cheka or the CIA, which seemingly is closer to the Politieke Inlichtingendienst), so the subcategory could reasonably be removed without any articles reasonably being put into the category. No appropriate contents = suitable for deletion. Nyttend (talk) 02:26, 16 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Disasters in Bavaria

Nominator's rationale: delete, underpopulated category and none of the other German states has its own disasters subcategory. There is no need to merge, the article is already elsewhere in the tree of potential merge targets. Marcocapelle (talk) 09:45, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Military of Bavaria

Nominator's rationale: merge, Bavaria no longer has its own army, everything about it is history. Marcocapelle (talk) 09:35, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Military of the German Empire by state

Nominator's rationale: delete, anachronistic category, the German Empire was established in 1871, while most of the content of the category is from before 1871. Marcocapelle (talk) 09:31, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Judensau

Nominator's rationale: delete, not a defining characteristic of these locations. This is well suitable for a list. Marcocapelle (talk) 08:51, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Austrian people of the War of the Bavarian Succession

Nominator's rationale: delete, redundant category layer with only one subcategory. There is no need to merge, the subcategory is still appropriately parented. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:12, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Roman Catholic schools in the Diocese of Jaffna

Nominator's rationale: Upmerge category with only one article. Mclay1 (talk) 04:26, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:People associated with MrBeast

Nominator's rationale: people associated with an individual is rarely defining. And isn't in this case SMasonGarrison 03:36, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:People associated with Jeffrey Epstein

Nominator's rationale: Associated with is not a defining feature for categories SMasonGarrison 03:17, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Recipients of the uMkhonto we Sizwe Service Medal

Nominator's rationale: WP:OVERLAPCAT, WP:OCAWARD, WP:ARBITRARYCAT, & WP:NONDEFINING
South Africa automatically issued medals to members of the uMkhonto weSizwe based on years of service: Service Medal in Bronze for 10 years, Service Medal in Silver for 20 years, and Service Medal in Gold for 30 years. We have Category:uMkhonto we Sizwe personnel because this military service is defining, but automatically receiving an award for that same service is not. - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:31, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Webby Award winners

Nominator's rationale: WP:NONDEFINING, WP:OCAWARD, and WP:G4
The Webby Awards are an American web site award which might be defining if this category had articles specifically about web sites. But the actual contents of this category are mostly companies, brands and celebrities who happen to also have a web site creating a bewildering grouping which includes Justin Bieber, BBC News, Young-Hae Chang Heavy Industries, Puzzle Pirates, Frank Ocean, Mayo Clinic, Lawrence Lessig, Merriam-Webster, Dan Savage, and NASA. The category contents are already at List of Webby Award winners for any reader interested in the topic. - RevelationDirect (talk) 01:31, 1 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
