Fortress is a draft specification for a new programming language currently developed by Sun Microsystems as part of a DARPA-funded supercomputing initiative.

It is intended to be a successor to the Fortran programming language, with improvements including Unicode support and code syntax that is similar to formal mathematical expressions.
